After reading more about Scholar, a part of me is thinking this is indirectly an attempt by SE to make Blm more party friendly.
First, if a Blm goes Blm/Sch and uses Black Grimoire, it might mean it could lower ALL Elemental and Dark magic casting times as well as mp usage (akin to conserve mp) and not only the spells which Scholar gets as a main. Now, if the mp usage reduction is great enough this eliminates the biggest problem Blms have in getting parties atm (other then at the greater colibri camp).
Also, with Scholars ability to change the weather effects, its increasing the damage done per amount of Mp used. This also helps out blm's with parties

Could also sub brd and use raptor mazurka for the same effect.

However Scholar will be a useful subjob at most/everything, where as subbing brd on the way to Nidhogg doesnt exactly help, and Mazurka doesnt work in all area's ;3

Actually, I'd guess what it means is that White Grimoire increases Black Magis cast time and spell cost, but reduces White Magic cast time and spell cost, while Black Grimoire increases white Magic cast time and spell cost, but reduces Black Magic cast time and MP cost.

Mithra Scholar = win. Can't beat the juxtaposition of a cat girl and school girl look!

I can also see Scholar as a great support job for WHM. Having a reduced mp cost and casting time for your healing spells would be very helpful depending on the extent of the changes. And if they could access a "scan" type spell as a subjob...woo!

I was thinking that at first as well, but when I reread the description things were a little more clear.

The entire paragraph is referring to the White Grimoire ability only. So when you use White Grimoire white magic gets a boost and black magic takes a hit. I would assume Black Grimoire would act similarly, but with black magic gaining the benefits.

Looking at the way they set up the site, I dunno if there are any more jobs. They divide the "jobs" section into two halves and on each job's page is just an arrow to the other job. The whole section looks designed around just those two entries.

The ToAU site evolved as they released info on new jobs, I assume the WoTG will do the same. Any how we will know for sure at the NA fan festival, which isn't that far away, I'm personally going to be keeping my fingers crossed for something like Viking (Anyone else notice it's been hinted at also?)
