Im thinking more like Dancer = PUP, SCL = COR, ??? = BLU. If we are doing correlations to ToAU jobs that is. Or it could be something totally different.
Find it funny Scholar can use black magic and white magic and dot + buffs, wonder why we never had a job like that before?

Seems rather interesting. Random theory: books will probably go into the ranged slot and allow them to cast some type of elemental magic. 8 Books, 8 Elemental Staves, 8 Elemental Obis, Final Destination.

Also, I think their AF looks fantastic, then again, there isn't really any piece of armor I truly dislike the look of. Subligars maybe.

Scholar was probably one of the last jobs I expected, because they were horribly useless in FF3. Then again, maybe I should have expected them, afterall...

I think the difference between RDM/SCH and RDM/WHM would be that RDM/SCH could use White Grimoire and the new Scholar-only magic. Plus, if needed, do Black Grimoire and cast Sleepga, Drain or Aspir, then switch immediately back to White Grimoire. Maybe even Stun, if Scholars get it before BLM does.

It'll be nice to have a job that can use both white and black magic without the restrictions RDM has. RDM is hindered slightly in that it has to sub WHM for curaga or -nas or teleports, and BLM for sleepga, or DRK for Stun (or either for drain/aspir). Since it sounds like Scholar won't have these restrictions, and only must use a instant reuse job ability to switch modes, that makes me wonder what Scholar would sub, since they already get white and black magic so there'd be no use for /WHM or /BLM. The major downside to Scholar, compared to RDM, is no Refresh (unless they get that too, since it is technically white magic along with Phalanx). At least they'd have Haste, though.

I'm hoping that there'll be a third job that'll be more synergistic as a sub job for monk. Warrior is too suicidal and so much is wasted with using ninja as a defensive sub.

How many spells available would probably just depend on their level progression compared to BLM and WHM, e.g. whether they'll get Paralyna at 9 and Curaga at 16 and Teleport-Holla at 36 like WHM, or if they get it later. Same for when they get Sleepga, Tractor, Burn/Shock/Choke/etc., Thundaga, Warp, Escape, Stun, etc. compared to BLM. I just hope that Warp for Scholar will still be below 37.

There have been curious spells in the .dats for years, including Toad,Confuse,Comet,Bar-spells II and of course Libra which will undoubtedly be used by Scholars. I recall a Job Ability being found in the .dats when CoP came out called "Enrage" it had the same description as Provoke; "Goads an enemy into attacking you" however the recast was 3 minutes. Since Libra is being used and I'm almost certain the Bar-spells II are going to be new WHM spells would it be safe to presume Enrage will be used for the 3rd new job whatever it will be? *coughvikingcough*

Again, it all depends on when they get them and how it all works. I highly doubt scholar would make either of those jobs obsolete and I doubt they would get the top tier magics. Hopefully they get enough of the lower tiwer magics early enough to use as a sub though.
