New Job - Scholar

[Charismatic]

Scholars have knowledge of both White and Black magic, as well their own exclusive set of spells. They are not exceptional mages, but rather combine abilities from various schools. Scholars also appear to have some use as a support job to other magic-using classes.

I doubt they'll be getting most of the WHM and/or BLM exclusive spells, probably mostly just the spells that RDM has that aren't RDM exclusive. Maybe not even all of those.

hmmm... looking at the animations from altana viewer Aer, Ignis, Terra and Aqua are debuffs... and going by theyre animations and animation of food: (these are not new in the .dats btw... theyve been there pre-ToAU )
Ignis= INT down
Aer= VIT down
Terra= DEX down
Aqua = STR down
there are also bar- versions of those

and of course Libra probably gives you the mobs HP/MP and Weaknesses

also a Spell Called "brav" in Altana Viewer... animation SUggests STR and DEX up
and "br_s" looks like INT+ and VIT+ >.>
Also a "Char" spell.... looks like Banish?

There have been curious spells in the .dats for years, including Toad,Confuse,Comet,Bar-spells II and of course Libra which will undoubtedly be used by Scholars. I recall a Job Ability being found in the .dats when CoP came out called "Enrage" it had the same description as Provoke; "Goads an enemy into attacking you" however the recast was 3 minutes. Since Libra is being used and I'm almost certain the Bar-spells II are going to be new WHM spells would it be safe to presume Enrage will be used for the 3rd new job whatever it will be? *coughvikingcough*

I'm sure enrage = provoke, but provoke was the better version (and has less enmity most likely considering 30sec vs 3 mins)

Libra I'm sure is what scholar is gonna get, that one's been in the dats forever. Shoulda went to bst but whatever.

Predicting Scholar will have Peep/Scan abilities that will show party/alliance member's mp/tp ala tparty, as well as the mob's hp%.

With them fixing macros and adding windowed capability, I wouldn't put it past them to try to replicate other popular aspects of the windower in an attempt to decrease use of 3pp.

Guess I'll level Scholar if it allows me to use Sleepga and Curaga but the way I'm reading it you can't just change and have instant access to spells, I think it might be a cool down like when you set BLU spells but we shall see.

"Vikings" are referenced in the Gnoll's description so let's pray its a new tank class or something, if they were introduced, I'd be 100k they'd get Enrage.

Vikings = WAR pretty much. If they did add Viking/Barbarian it would probably be a WAR carbon-copy with some creativity like special types of Rages or something. I hope not. If there had to be a barbaric job, I'd hope it would be somewhat Shaman, aka Geomancer.

It certainly isn't impossible Dancer and Scholar will be the only two new jobs. Look at the New job menu. It hardly has the space that the ToAU one did. If they don't adjust the size of text/images, they couldn't possibly fit a third one(let alone a fourth). Factor in how close the release of the expansion is...

im thinking that while subbing Scholar, on a RDM, it would be like subbing WHM and BLM but probably with less spells...
I dunno.. i will level this for my BLM for sure not to mention the AF is awesome ><

How many spells available would probably just depend on their level progression compared to BLM and WHM, e.g. whether they'll get Paralyna at 9 and Curaga at 16 and Teleport-Holla at 36 like WHM, or if they get it later. Same for when they get Sleepga, Tractor, Burn/Shock/Choke/etc., Thundaga, Warp, Escape, Stun, etc. compared to BLM. I just hope that Warp for Scholar will still be below 37.

yeah but then that would make BLM and WHM kinda obsolete.... unless Scholar gets the spells up to 37 then stops...
I mean Scholar cant take the Tele's an curaga's from WHM and Warp from BLM >.> Shock/Burn/etc are BLM exclusive atm and scholar could change this but still... if scholar got every spell it would be overpowered...

Im hoping Scholar doesnt get -na, -ga, tele's, warp, or any high level Spells (tier 4+ maybe tier 3+) =/

But i think they will get Libra, Aer, Terra, and Aqua that would be cool xD

Well, we have a bit of a dilemma then. If Scholars do get -ga, -na, teles, warp, etc. then they're taking away from WHM/BLM. If Scholars don't get -ga, -na, teles, warp, etc. then they're taking away from RDMs. I doubt they'd steal RDMs "thing", so they'll probably get -ga, -na, teles, warp, etc.

It had toad effect, but they can still add a "toad" spell in game. Could be a new interesting crowd control spell.

I was talking about a new job idea with someone, since Vikings are mentioned, War was clearly the Proto-Tank, but wound up turning into a premier DD that can tank with the right subs, Pld and Drk do the Offense/Defense mirror wonderfully, and War is not the mirror of either, make Viking a job like War with JA's that provide enmity, perhaps -Dmg% taken (and hey, if it scales up as you level, you'll probably be able to slot it in with Pld and Nin as endgame tank), and a bit of DD ability.

This would counter Wars Offense, Offense, Defense mix with Defense, Defense, Offence.

For viking i was thinking just a paladin with more hp( about same or better than monks) and also no mp and maybe a little more def.

and i'm not sure if anyones said this yet but has anyone ever thought that maybe the white and black grimoires will be like level 38 or higher or not usable as a SJ? Im gonna laugh if they are
