just a thought, does anyone else believe they will give scholar the scan ability or spell?
When they say they are going o increase the macro pallette, does that mean increase number of lines per macro? I run FFXI on my ps2 and feel left out when it comes to macroing for nukes because most PC blms have their fast cast gear in the begining ofthe nuke and sub in MAB mid nuke. i want ; ;Originally Posted by Spira

gawd. had to pay a ton for textbooks for my classes this semester...
now i'mma probably have to pay a ton for books for scholar.
but the idea of being a taru scholar in schoolgirl AF makes me squeeeeeeee :3
and if it could refresh it would be amazing!
I think a tank class would be a really nice addition though ;;
i can see scholar being a mage inbetween rdm + whm or rdm + blm depending on which grimoire they use. maybe haveing B or B+ skill in divine and healing skill with white grimoire and B or B+ in elemental and dark magic wiht dark grimoire, while leaving the enfeeb enhancing skill at a C or so maybe?. Definitly this is the 1. of the new jobs I will lvl since I have whm and blm at 75, and chances are good it will share the equipment of both.

Wishful thinking? Moreover, it allows the use of equipment that has special latent effects under certain weather conditions.
I don't think Viking would be a carbon copy of Warrior. WAR in the JP version is Soldier whereas Viking would be a barbarian. Whereas WAR has skills that a Soldier would use in battle to affect their attributes, defensive maneuvers, offensive manuevers, I think Viking would be more offense oriented. They could specialize in A+ Greatsword since no job has A+ in that skill.(Everyone thinks vikings' main weapon were axes but they used spears, warhammers, and swords too, and Dark Knight never used Scythes until FFXI anyway). VIkings already exist in Vana'diel according to the Gnoll description, so obviously they are/would be different that Warriors, or else SE would have called them Warriors in the description, yes?

you're a page late. not all grimoires are for casting magic, the lesser and greater keys of solomon were about demon summoning and protection against other demons.Originally Posted by BRP

The "official" translation linked earlier (on the same blog as Elmer's source) says 4000 buttons.Originally Posted by Saitoe

Well it said we go from 1200 to 4000 so first we have to figure out how there getting 1200Originally Posted by Zosi
we have
10 lines (1-0)
2 rows (alt/ctrl)
10 sets of (alt/ctrl)
6 lines a macro
so 10*2*10= 200 but 10*2*10*6= 1200
now assuming they keep the same amount of lines we should be able to deivide by 6
and get a nice event # for what the first 3 #s are when muliplyes (lines*sets*rows)
4000/6=666.67
so no we wont be keeping the same # of lines per macro doe work out mathwise
but taking the value they gave us and dividing by our current value we can get a nice ratio of what is happening here 4000/1200= 3.3 or 10/3
that 10/3 is happening between the value of "lines in a macro (6)" and the combined value of the others "lines (10)*sets(10)*rows(2)".
let assume they dont shrink the current # of line for safety sake.
if we went 4000/6= 666.67 we can say that because its not a whole # that they have to increase the value of the # of lines in macros.
Based of both of these comutations we can safely conclude that the # of lines per macro is increasing and then total # of macros is increasing.
P.S.*btw if you doubled the amount of rows (say alt+ctrl+shift+tab) to 4 the # of lines per macros goes up to 10 then (10*4*10)=400 4000/400=10*
I'm pretty sure they expressly stated that they'd be increasing the number of -buttons- for macros, and they didn't say anything about lines.
With that said I'm still kind of holding out hope that they're doing something about the number of lines per macro, because if they magically found a way to give us many more macro sets than we'll ever need, maybe they found the space to give us more lines per macro than we'll ever need. I don't know. I think everyone just has their fingers crossed really hard at this point and we're putting our wishful interpretations of things on top of the non-specific information we've been given.
There's nothing to figure out. They (meaning SE) have NEVER said 1200, and they've never even referenced "lines" at all. The first two of these are Elmer's translations, the last is the "official" translation posted to the blog he used as a source. Nowhere do they reference lines, and two of them very explicitly reference buttons.Originally Posted by whoami

IK on our Forum posted this on OCtober 29th:
Rumors about another job that float around say that it will be Scholar. It will be a job that has the ability to change the weather around the party, giving Elemental magic users, Sumoners etc. benefits accordingly.
So....new job is...Weatherman?
We here at BG have access to an additional screenshot of Scholar in action!
