I believe that was with White Grimoire, which would only give benefits to White magic, while limiting, if not completely disabling, Black magic. So you can have your fast-cast Stoneskin and such, but you'd have very limited hate-generating spells since those are mainly Black magic. Obviously, you can swap between the two but that alone is very different from RDMs, whose Fast Cast is not only always active for everything, but also modifies recast times, which is especially important for Utsusemi (I would assume it benefits from neither White nor Black Grimoire). Haste gear may make up for some of that, but one of the reasons why RDM/NIN works is the Fast Cast in addition to haste gear.Originally Posted by Therin
There are still a lot of unknown factors (e.g. if Scholars get Cure IV or any MDB JTs) so I think it's a tad early to come to any real conclusion regarding SCH/NIN's viability as a tank.
Plus we know little nothing about the spell list (new and existing spells) period, or viable gear/combat abilites. Are some of you REALLY expecting this job to tank? Guessing is fine, but really now...
SS might get off at 40% but Utsusemi: Ichi and Ni are not white or black magic and will trigger at 70%+ which will probably get u killed in most situations. This also applies to the recast. Utsusemi gets no speed bonus besides haste gear and spells which any job as full access to.
We also know that the use of the grimoires will increase the casting time of the opposite spell... but how much do you wanna bet that using a grimoire will increase the casting/recast time of ALL other magics as well? It is SE, after all.Originally Posted by Enygma55
i wonder how badly SCH/SAM will glitch with Grimoire + Hasso up lol
probably none at all because hasso/seigan work on timers and apparently grimorie duration is infinite
gfg
Don't Hasso and Seigan mess with spell recast times, just like Grimoire? That's what I thought he was talking about, anywaysOriginally Posted by Genosync
Yeah I was thinking of the dread spike glitch.Originally Posted by Rocl
I can see switching grimoires will result in wipeing all buffs effects etc of said grimoire you are switching out, otherwise I dont see the point of doing a JA that is unlimited and has no reuse timer.
I am still eager to find out if the grimoires will only effect the original magics. Probably, but if it does alternate blue magic, this could lead maybe to more BLU nukers?
The best thing it could do for blu nukeing is if the weather effect spell is pre-37, since Obi's is the best possible thing for BLU nukes >.>bOriginally Posted by Damane

wtf

lacking visually, very very badly...
though the perks the jobs get are pretty cool
ya.. I was referring to this..Originally Posted by Rocl
when you have 1 JA that shortens cast time and another than lengthens it.. will they stack up like Berserk + Defender? Or cancel out, or give you the effect of its difference (eg if 1 is +30% cast speed, the other is -50%, it makes -20%)
and when you have 2 JA that lengthen cast timer, how long with the recast go?
These would be most easily answered once the game releases.. but for SCH/SAM (whoever decides to use this job combi) there's a chance that things get abit messy, if anything, because you've got JA that messes with all spell timers, and then another which messes with some spell timers at once.
That and maybe the QA testers might have missed it.
