Rock Band!

There's no denying that the DLC in Rock Band is better. That's probably the biggest thing going for it.

As for price, I paid $80 for the Wii version of GH3 at Costco (was doing some Pld shopping and picked it up), so it's not $60 for the game and $40 for the Guitar. For Wii, I'd say more like $50 for the game and $30 for the Guitar. Assuming a $160 price tag on RB, that's an extra $80 for Drums and a Mic. The drums seem nice from the pic I saw, but I don't want them that bad if they're gonna cost as much as a new game itself (assuming $20 for the Mic and $60 for the drums)

The MTV/Harmonix thing was cause it kinda seemed like you wanted people to play RB instead of GH3 partially because you didn't like GH3 (or at least the songs) much. I'd rather prefer people play both (or at least give each a try) since they both are/seem like great games.

In the meantime, anyone know if/when extra guitars will be sold seperately for Wii?

Be looking at seperate peripherals next year for both Rock band and guitar hero 3 (that's my estimate). And that's a good price for your GH3 copy, most places had retail at $90 so good for you I have no idea on seperate periph. prices though. I know the X-plorer (which has been the worst GH guitar to date) by itself is $60 which is fucking ridiculous... expect the GH3 guitar to be 70 I'd say, maybe 60. But they didn't start selling the guitar's by themselves until a year (maybe more?) after GH2 came out, and to my knowledge Red Octane hasn't announced when they will be selling guitars by themselves, but I really think they'll be here early next year when Rock Band will be doing theirs as well.

Ouch at the Guitar prices. Kinda seems like you're just buying the Guitar and getting the game for like $20 at that price.

I'm hoping the Wii versions will be cheaper since the current package version is generally $10 cheaper than the PS3 and 360 versions, at least from the ads I saw when it came out.

What ballpark range would you estimate the RB drums to be at when released seperately? If they're decent and the Wii GH3 Guitar works for RB, I may look into it.

They are thinking about a Wii version. I mean hell there's a PS2 version coming out in December.

I played with the drums and new guitar last night at Best Buy and I absolute love playing drums. Went straight to expert and it wasn't too bad at all. First few songs I got about 93-95%. Of course, this was without the kick pedal so I know I'll be starting out on Medium or so to get used to that.

The guitar's neck seems a little weak, but it might be because it's been played on by so man people. The 5 extra frets near the bottom of the neck are so scrunched together that I get lost when trying to switch from the top to the bottom. No biggie though because it'll probably take a little bit of adjustment time.

The look of the band while you're playing is pretty neat. The songs are on average longer than most of the GH3 songs which sucks when waiting in line trying to play. A lot of people stopped by the booth to figure out that it wasn't GH that we were playing. A little of my old EB employment side came out when I started spouting dates, prices, and availability of the game. Ugh. Glad that I preordered mine almost a month ago.

November 20th can't come any sooner.

Anyways, back to people who have knowledge about things. The drums in our system are listed as 70... but our systems are really just going off of a guess, we had the rock band bundle listed as 300 when the game was first first announced. But I mean for a drum kit with a bass pedal and drum sticks really be expecting to pay 60-70 bucks. What they might do for a Wii version is sell like a DVD with the DLC on it, at least that's what one of the harmonix guys said they were trying to overcome.

As said before, the game at first release will be available as a bundle package (170) AND as a stand alone game. The guitar hero 3 controller DOES work with the game fully. What that special effects meant was that you won't be able to use the effects switch that's on the Rock band guitar. It doesn't do anything as far as gameplay goes, it's just a fun new feature. You will be able to play the game in its entirety with the GH3 guitar and you can just pick up the drums when they come out in Jan-Feb if you want

Dude, I tried out the guitar for Rock Band, it actually feels like a real guitar. Yeah yeah I know it's a video game, but I am playing a video game that allows me to pretend that I am part of a band that's any good, that's hawt imo. It looks real, looks cool, it's not like fisherprice guitar that GH3 has. I don't know why people are complaining about Rock Band's guitar other than that it's wired.

And ffs they aren't making you buy the entire bundle. You can get the game by itself and then just get the drums later, just use your GH guitar for it.

What I'm saying is they probably won't have individual items bundled with the game for awhile, that it'll just be the instruments by themselves. It's not going to be so much more expensive to get the game and the drums seperately anyways.
