I assume you can play it with any usb mic (from like, ps2 games?) and gh3's les paul?

Thats what I did. I'm using the Xbox Live mic for vocals and the GH3 guitar. It actually works out pretty well.

PS3 GH3 guitar doesn't work with Rock Band.

Didn't read any of the thread really... but looking at MisterBob's video of Don't Fear The Reaper, Rock Band looks a little easier on Expert than Guitar Hero II (don't have III yet). Is that so, or was it just the choice of song?

Thats an easyish song (although not too easy to sing and play at the same time, lol). However, the note charts are a bit easier, but the timing window is the harshest yet. It accepts nothing less than near-perfection, especially on HO/PO

This game just destroyed ~3 hours of productivity at the office, where we have the game set up to a projector against a 8 foot screen. It's a game of inhibition. The more people it sucks in, the less you care that you're the one behind the mic because the 'audience' can get into it.

I can't imagine playing this outside of a large group setting where you leave the most musically-inclined guy behind the drums (which are by far the most difficult part to play) and rotate singers as a sort of karaoke game. We played a little mini-game at the end where whoever blew everyone else away at regular instruments had to take a turn at drums and 'newcomers' were forced to sing before they could play any of the instruments. Insanity.

Ahh, okay. It did seem easy but I didn't want to downplay you or anything lol, I know how sensitive people on the internet are. The timing is a good thing in my opinion, GHIII seems a bit loose on the timing. I'm not that good on GHII, have trouble on most Hard songs (only because I don't practice, I do pretty well on songs I play whenever I feel like loading up the game), but I downloaded the demo and said "What the hell, let's give Expert a shot first," and they were pretty easy. Granted those were probably tier one songs, but it was still a lot easier on the HO/POs compared to GHII.

It's the second to last set I believe, I rocked the hell out of it falsetto style.

As far as difficulty it's clearly easier when it comes to note charts, but like mentioned before they aren't as forgiving as Neversoft when it comes to accuracy. Then again, they never meant for it to be extremely difficult.

need to work on my drumming :/ I was struggling through the last 2 tiers on drums and barley made it out on some songs. Finished band world tour though with 2 friends Jus tneed to do endless setlist.

God fucking damn I love this game! :D

btw has anyone done any downloads yet? I've got all the songs so far except cherry bomb I think and I absolutely love them on one instrument or the other. Bowie is always fun to sing too haha.

I don't see how anyone can like GH3 more than this after the change, unless of course they have noone to play with and/or are cheap bastards. Just being able to have your own sort of character makes it better in my opinion, but like others said, playing with other people (besides 2 guitars) makes it that much better. The only thing I don't like is that one person is bass and the other guitar, instead of some songs on GH where there was lead and rhythm, but I guess it sort of evens out the notes everyone gets.

I don't know about you guys though, but trying to coordinate 4 people's overdrives and getting gold stars is fun enough for me, even if we all can't do expert on our respective instruments yet.

How does the difficulty on drums stack up to something like Drummania? Most of the songs on there just don't seem like their drum parts are very challenging at all...which is my main hold-up on dropping $170 for the whole damn thing instead of just $60 for the game.

Orly? Now my interest is definitely piqued. I topped out on Drummania basically (cleared literally everything L90+), and I'm too old now to drive to an arcade to play a game and get all sweaty...so look like i'll be picking this up after finals

I guess it really depends on what challenges you though. In my experience Drum Mania has technically harder/faster sections, but Rock Band is way more picky about things, and really forces you to do difficult rhythms with the bass pedal
