It only has a max of about 250 HP, so a 2HP:1MP ratio doesn't necessarily mean it's subbing a mage. About the same ratio has PLD, DRK or maybe BLU.Originally Posted by Priran
Still working on the article but, I thought you'd want some of the newer tidbits on the jobs
- Dancer gets Drain Samba, drains HP as you strike the enemy[/*:m:dq6v7hm5]
- Dancer gets Haste Samba, gives Haste effect, most likely to party within AoE[/*:m:dq6v7hm5]
- Scholar gets "Chapter: Elemental Presence" under Black Grimoire, allows single target Enfeebling and Dark magic to be cast as AoE.[/*:m:dq6v7hm5]
- With White Grimoire, Scholar finished Stoneskin at 40% of the casting gauge[/*:m:dq6v7hm5]
- With Black Grimoire, Scholar performed Graviga[/*:m:dq6v7hm5]
- Scholars use Staves and Clubs, books are only a graphical effect[/*:m:dq6v7hm5]
kraken drks are gonna get a little more ridiculous when 2 hour's down.Originally Posted by Elmer the Pointy
All around just pretty ridiculous, if this stuff can be transfered to party members, red mages are about to step way the fuck up.

My guess is that Elemental Presence is post-37!Originally Posted by Elmer the Pointy

I don't think it is, and it would hardly be game breaking, I'm really hoping that Scholar sub will be for mages what /SAM is for 2-handers.Originally Posted by Ashira

...any enfeeble or dark spell made into aoe.....graviga..bindga..
Scholar and /SCL just opened up a new form of CC.
It doesn't necessarily mean any enfeeble or dark spell.Originally Posted by LD
I assume the enfeebles will be limited to Bindga, Graviga, Blindga, Paralyga, and Slowga. Poisonga perhaps as well. These spells are already in the game. Maybe adding in a Bioga?
Dark spells.. I wonder if they're implenting AOE Drain and Aspir spells? Or if they just mean the element (ie: Sleep).
Edit: Something just occurred to me. I wonder if Scholar will be getting Break, and with Elemental Presence, the ability to do Breakga? (over 37 of course)
Alas.. no Elegyga![]()
...Why would it NOT necessarily mean any enfeeble/dark spell...and then you cited the same examples I did plus drainga & aspirga, which do NOT exist within the dats?
Why wouldn't it not necessarily mean any enfeeble/dark spell? Anyway, I was suggesting that perhaps it'll be limited to certain enfeebles that are already in -ga form in the game, and then went on to cite examples of things they might add if it were all or most enfeeble/dark spells. I'm hoping it's the latter, but I'm kind of doubting it.Originally Posted by LD
Divine seal allows single target spells to affect multiple targets, and doesn't turn them into ga versions of the spell. The fact that the spell does not exist as a ga doesn't mean that it cant be made to affect multiple targets.Originally Posted by Wizerd
That's true, but as Elmer said, the Scholar cast "Graviga". Whether he actually used Graviga, and not Gravity that hit multiple targets, I guess we wouldn't know for sure. But if it's the former, then I would assume it's limited to certain spells.Originally Posted by Delekii
The Scholar cast "Graviga," which was specified to be a spell with the effect of Gravity on enemies within range. Also, the Scholar is said to be limited to certain spells while a Grimoire is active.
Kinda sounding like Providence in player form.Originally Posted by Elmer the Pointy
Too bad it doesn't sound like Scholar will be getting "Death."

Yea, but can we be sure?
The fact is Scholar is exactly what its name implies; a mage that is especially studious the the 2 core forms of magic. It will most likely have a wider array of White and Black Magic than their respective specialists (in all), but will lack the power that those jobs have in the art.
What I'm suggesting is that Scholar will probably have nearly all current White and Black Magic spells at its disposal, plus unique spells like Libra and the Weather changer, but wont Enfeeble, Heal, or Nuke anywhere near as well as a RDM, WHM, or BLM. It may, however, be a superior buffer and crowd controller.

is it me or this looks like a battle VS the 5 Serpent Generals?
Yes, it definitely looks like that's what it is.Originally Posted by Tomino

Stoneskin came off when they did black grimoir? That sounds pretty gay. >.>
