I'm just curious how scholar plays out. so far it seems like scholar is a really shitty main job just a really good sub job. Assuming the vast majority of the abilities are gotten pre-40ish. Unless they get refresh at 41 then they'd just be a rdm.
Meh I still have hopes that they add Lv5 Death or soemthing.Originally Posted by Wizerd
Since you have no way of knowing a Mob's level or anything... and then if they wanted to gimp it they would make it so that if it does kill the mob you don't gain exp or items from it... See>BST Pets that just got released.
I'll take "Scholar as RDM subjob" for $300, Alex.Originally Posted by Elmer the Pointy
This is seriously looking like Scholar is a "metamage", who's primary ability is to modify other spells (and the limited ones they know how to cast) on themselves and others.
AoE Enfeebles. Oh, so good.
yea.
Also looks like like SE Didn't want to release Time mage so we're getting Scholar similarly to how Puppetmaster was a compromise to those that wanted Necromancer. just hoping they didnt rush it like they did Pup ;(
has to be some sort of limitation, after all you can switch between the grimoires at will... imagine being BLM/SCH, using white grimoire, casting stoneskin with increased enhancing skill and finishing at 40%, then switching to black grimoire for increased elemental skill/potency...Originally Posted by Not Kuno
awesome and all, but there is no limitation to it, they might as well not bother including the grimoires at all..
The stoneskin coming off probably because they used the white grimoire to cast it earlier, and when you switch to black it negates what you've done, etc.
My guess is that enhancing spells cast under white grimoire mode wear off when you shift modes and you need to recast them with longer times. Balancing etc
My husband (who speaks more JP than me) said that the players who did this did not play their own characters, but some special characters that were set up for that event only. Apparently, all 3 groups that tried the fight failed, largely because many were not playing their normal job or character. He said something about getting a special event code to try with your own character later... I think... Hope Elmer can translate that bit too ^^;Originally Posted by Caestus

There already is a vampire hunter d-minus -esque quest title in the game.Originally Posted by SathFenrir
And hopefully, if they do get Break/Breakga or other currently mob-only debuffs, it would be pre-37.
I'm wont be happy with FFXI until Goobbue eat mandragora. That's why I bought the game.![]()
What's the TP reading in that Dancer pic?
It looks like 302%, which is why I'm asking......
Could be that Dancer moves require over 300% TP to perform, and so increased their gauge. e.g. WS still takes up to 300%, but Dances might take 400,500,600%,etc.Originally Posted by Kaisha

really though it looks like a 0 to me, you might be confusing the bottom part of the 2 directly above the 3rd 0 for part of it, however that works?
how can someone not know how to play all the jobs in FFXI after having atleast 1 75? i mean i wouldn't expect you excell in them all. but i would expect you to atleast beable to use the job very well. i dunno things like that are just wow to me...
I imagine mage jobs finding themselves annoyed without macros.

They only allowed the six main jobs. Try to get anything done with WAR/MNK tanks when everything's been blinked since 2005.Originally Posted by Caestus
