Hmm they way i read it was that Lung-Nango worte the grimoires and Scultz adapted them and created Scholars...
Well maybe the School was in windy... but created by a Bastoker
The school was in Bastok, Windurst never knew anything about Scholars. Lungo-Nango's original work is probably only like 5% of the Scholar's book that they use, after so many generations of additions and improvements. Even the very first Scholar used a book that had already been heavily edited and improved by Shultz from Lungo-Nango's version.

I get the impression that the purpose of Lungo-Nango's grimoire was more or less similar to that of Schultz's Stratagems (in terms of the story), in that he was writing about strategy that he hoped Windurst could make use of in defense of the Elvaans and Yagudo. He said they'll soon be able to use magic like the Windurstians, so the Lungo-Nango just jotted down some ideas to help them use it better than their enemies.

Schultz found bits and pieces of it, and made a new book using part of what Lungo-Nango wrote, changing some of it, and adding his own strategies to it. He based a school around it, and after generations of adding and editing, somebody came along and gave scholars the ability to summon the book and make more efficient use of it in the field. In that time, they also developed the techniques to do whatever it is Scholars do.

So by the time Scholar was an actual job, it was way beyond anything Lungo-Nango had intended or fathomed.

Once you do me a favor by not misquoting. While Dancer did end up being a DD, I'll admit that it has buff/debuff qualities I hadn't expected. However, I still have not been wrong about FFT in FFXI yet. Even in FFT, Dancer didn't buff. And Scholar, as you will notice, is from the main series. But the FFT debate isn't really the topic here, and I wasn't completely wrong about Dancer anyway.

Plus, you "quoted" me on the FFT debate when the post you are replying to has to do with whether Scholar originated in Bastok or Windurst based on the article SE just published, so I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to accomplish.

What? Do you always condone the ignorant comments coming from people who only believe in things that can physically be seen?

I've never claimed to know everything about SE. All the speculation about Dancer were only my opinion, and my opinion was based on trends shown thus far in FF and FFXI in particular. Those arguments I made were defending the basis of my opinions, not trying to say my opinions must be fact.

However, that's not really relevant since in this case, I'm not basing anything off subjective ideas of what I think SE may or may not do. I'm basing it off an actual text source that says explicitly what I summarized in my post. For every claim made in that post, I could cite a part of SE's article to back it up.

Well with scholar and dancer its 20 jobs. and theres 20 books of macros so if there making one book per one job. . . then were done with implementation of new jobs. I personally hope they add more though

Yeah I really don't understand when he brought up the bit about Tactics because it wasn't referenced once in this thread?

I don't think it was a reference to tactics, more so a reference to how Khamsin refused to accept a new concept , due to his experience about previous concepts.

Well, I think a couple people misunderstood what exactly I was saying. I never refused to accept any possibility, since SE can do whatever they want. I merely had an opinion, and stated how I came to that opinion as justification for why I thought what I thought. Obviously, whatever opinion others may have won't change how I formed my opinion, and everybody's opinion was nothing more than speculation until SE revealed more details, anyway.

A refusal to accept new concepts would be if I were stubborn in the face of actual facts. Not changing my opinion because someone else has another opinion doesn't mean anything.

But none of this changes that none of this has anything to do with SE's article stating that Scholar came from Bastok after Schultz found pieces of Lungo-Nango's grimoire and heavily edited/added to it and started a school during which several generations of students also heavily edited/added to it and created the Scholar job. Therefore, I was a little confused as to what the Dancer/FFT debate had anything to do with anything.

We need a new tank job....I think macro books will be swappable in the macro menu, not by switching jobs.

I'm thinking that the quest for scholar will start in windurst. History or not windurst is the city of magic. The original grimoire was made in windurst. Dancer is going to start in bastok most likely.

I'm pretty sure that's how it will be done but it looks like the intention is just one book per job

I just hope SE implements these jobs correctly, I was one of those people who rushed to unlock blu and get it to 75 in a month's time after ToAU released, when i look back I think it was half ass done. Blu, Cor, Pup didn't get AF until around 6 months later and when the AF did get implemented all it did was cause havoc from many people thinking it was poorly implemented.

    Re: Scholars: Martial Magicians (11/05/2007)

An irreplaceable resource of the proponents of the Schultz School of Martial Theory, the military text known as the "grimoire" is a unique work. The original manuscript was penned on papyrus by the Windurstian Warlock Warlord Lungo-Nango. He professed unfamiliarity with magic, but after researching its strengths and weaknesses, he put forth a series of unconventional strategies that combined frontal magical assaults by heavy Caster Companies with flanking attacks by highly mobile beast units(*). He was a celebrated warlord with victories on many battlefields. However, after his death, the mages of Windurst narrowed their research to the study of pure magic, and Lungo-Nango's brilliant magical, martial tactics were all but forgotten.

Three hundred years later, the scattered pages of Lungo-Nango's works were collected and added to by Gunther Schultz, and thus a revised addition of the grimoire was born. The practice of copying and improving the tome eventually became an unbroken tradition among the pupils of the Schultz School of Martial Theory.

    Perfection of the Grimoire
I don't know if it needs to be made more clear, but Scholar was a joint effort by Lungo and Schultz. Schutlz II added the magical effects(like being able to summon it at anytime) and completed it into the job that we will be playing. Lungo made it about magic from day 1.

I basically started the Dancer/FFT debate. You made a thread with no /WHM and made it clear that you thought there was no chance of any possible support. Which was kind of silly, when everyone from the beginning always thought a Dancer job would have some sort of support. You were the first person I've ever met who thought it wouldn't be.
