    Aion: Tower of Eternity

    I dont know if this has already been discussed here on bg forums, if so delete this topic!

    I was looking at some mmorpgs and i found "Aion: Tower of Eternity" and it looks very promising to me. Was hoping for some feedback of what you guys think of this game!

    This link is a video of Aion's E3 2006 trailer. It pretty much shows the gameplay and some environment that looks awesome. Keep it mind this is just the 2006 beta gameplay, so i expect that by 2008 Q2 when it is released it will have been enhanced by then.

    In before the "LOL Korean MMORPG"

    But seriously, I've been keeping my eye on this game for alittle while and will probably give it a try. Q2 2008 looks to be interesting with both Aion and WAR coming out.

    Pretty scenery and graphics, but that has never saved a korean MMORPG before.

    I've been looking forward to this. You can jump! Also, the flying is pretty badass. Was watching the Ranger video and yeah. Hawtness when she starts flying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVVZaVE0Ak0

    Isn't Aion being made by the same dudes behind Lineage 2?

    Korean Grindfest. Will suck just as bad or worse as Lineage 2. This is a fact.

    Will not be worth playing until hack servers with 10x or 50x XP and Money appear.

    Re: Aion: Tower of Eternity

    I have a copy of the closed beta client, it's pretty lol.

    Code:
    -- Developer Cheat keys ---

    --Input:BindCommandToKey("#ToggleScreenshotMode()","f11",1);
    Input:BindCommandToKey("#ToggleGod()","backspace",1);

    Input:BindCommandToKey("#ToggleNewDesignerMode(10,15,0)","f4",1);

    --- functions---
    function ToggleGod()

    	if (System:IsDevModeEnable()~=1) then
    		do return end
    	end

    	if (not god) then
    		god=1;
    	else
    		god=1-god;
    	end
    	if (god==1) then
    		System:LogToConsole("God-Mode ON");
    	else
    		System:LogToConsole("God-Mode OFF");
    	end
    end
    Hm.

    they wouldn't be so bad on paper if they scaled back the shear number look of the exp you need to level...

    like instead of having to earn hundreds of millions of exp for a level when you're close to the cap, scale it all back from the beginning so that it's only in the single digit millions (or even alot less) and just lower the mob experience accordingly as you level.

    seeing a smaller number would make people continue hoping and grinding away at it than fucking games requiring you to get 200million exp to level >.>

    Wow the video of that actually looks really cool, haven't tried any of the Korean MMO's so maybe I'm less pessimistic but I think it looks neat.

    The problem with this is, in games like Lineage 2, you don't see a set figure for how much you need to gain a level. You see how much you get for killing a monster, and you see a percentage bar fill up. The figures you can find for exp/level in that game (and others like it) are based primarily on people's calculations while playing through the game.

    There's no difference between 200mil exp per level at 10k exp per mob, and 20mil exp at 1k per mob. Lower the numbers themselves doesn't change the time investment required to gain those levels. There's someone on these forums that has a 80/78 in L2 (Meteora, I think) that could give more details on this than I could since I tapped out after hitting B-grade.

    Well, at least it isn't another WoW or Ragnarok Online reskinned. So many MMOs starting up now, i'm amazed you can pick one good one out of all the mess.

    the thing with that is, it doesn't scale up like that with korean style mmo's

    for example in 2moons, when you're only like 68 you need 8-9 million to level up right, and the monsters you can fight for the best exp at your level only give you 2500-3000 per mob, and each time you level up your exp you need to level jumps 10% of the previous level's experience. while the experience you gain from enemies barely increases at all.

    what i'm refering too in most of the korean style mmo's is the exponential gain of exp needed to level compared to the exp the best mobs give you.

    i'm well aware that most of their games are built in relation to keep players going for as long as possible for the increased chance said players will continue spending money on the games monthly fees or in a cash shop, but i'm sure they would appeal to a wider audience if the exp needed to level was toned back significantly in relation to the exp you get per mob.
