Things like fruit, yogurt, and fruit juices are insanely high in sugar, albiet natural it is still not very good to just eat these things. Vegetables are very good for you, especially green leafy ones. Fish is also very good for you and it is high in omega fats( fat that is good for you: omega 3/6/9). Try to avoid processed grains as they are also very high in sugar, go for whole wheat. Try to limit your meal plate to 1/4 carbs and the rest veges and fish. Then there is the acidity of beef vs. chicken vs. fish. Balance is the key.

Eating healthy is so complicated, I'm glad my metabolism is so high that I don't need to worry about weight.

    missed your post.

Fast/Junk food is deadly to all imo. If it won't get you now, it'll get you later. The human body can't hold up, and burn forever. Your metabolism can get weaker depending on how you treat your body. Don't think only about fat around your belly...think about diabetes, cancer and many others (I cant think of right now)

    Re: Junk Food discussion

i think the nutritional label can be misleading as well; so it's not just that people arent reading them, a percentage of the ones that are, i'm sure, dont fully understand what they are looking at. for most foods, on average, i would say that i dont know what 50% of the shit they list there actually is. is it bad for me or good? i'd have to take the extra step and research all of those ingrediants to find out. i'm not even talking about the retarded scientific names, but shit like "natural flavors", what the fuck does that mean? my piss is natural, are they flavoring doritos with my piss? i sure hope not (though i'm sure it's delicious), but how do you know either way what some of that stuff actually is? how about the percentages that they show for stuff like sodium? 20% for a whole big bag of chips sounds reasonable, i guess. but wait, what's this "serving size" bullshit? 20% of my allotment of sodium for the entire day for 5 chips?! wtf... i bought a bottle of iced tea at a deli, has 2 servings in it. why? they know i'm going to drink the whole damn thing in one day anyway, why make eating and drinking a fucking math problem?

As for cutting out, get yourself used to salads, fruits, and organic food. Look for something you like, to replace the taste of fast food in your mouth. I found sushi (fucking expensive, but its worth it) i hate fish, but i fell in love with sushi.
Im not really sure how it is in other states, but theres a HUGE demand for sushi in California. There are sushi bars all over the place. 8)
    Is it expensive?

like in Dubai, example, a 6 piece maki roll (Crunchy California, not so big) is for $6.50.
Maybe prices would differ from one shop to another, but slightly.[/quote:qbjmnb63]
I cant quote prices off the top of my head, but you pay for what you get. We have everything from the smaller, mom and pop type places (which are hit and miss as far as taste goes) that are cheaper; to the nicer classy places that double as japanese grills, where you have a personal chef at your table and rape is like saying hello, etc, which are more pricier.

Next time you go grocery shopping, actually read the labels, even on the stuff you think should be good for you. EVERYTHING has high fructose corn syrup in it! Yogurt, bread, salad dressings. Hell even your everyday "maple syrup" doesn't even have any actual maple syrup in it, just flavoring!

I've started really reading what i'm buying. Staying away from high fructose corn syrup, any "enriched" flour (why take it out and put it back in?!), anything with particially hydrogenated oils, etc. It is extremely hard to find things without one of the above in it.

What i've found that I like and can buy is Dannon Natural's yogurt (which they have at Subway now!), anything Kashi makes is pretty good, and fresh stuff, even Paul Newman's stuff is decent. We recently even bought a upright freezer and will be going in with friends to buy 1/4 cow to get our beef that is local, farm raised--with no hormones or antibotics in it. And, it is cheaper!

Our country is fat, our kids are fat, because they put this crap in everything. I'm amazed when I start to read the labels and how long it took me to find the products that didn't have the crap in it!

what's wrong with cows that have been on antibiotics? does diseased beef taste better, is it really healthier?
what's wrong with enriched flour? (arent they just putting in what was lost/destroyed during processing?) are you against iodised salt?
sometimes the things that are added arent always so bad, in fact, sometimes they are quite good for you.

    On the beef--read here-- http://www.sustainabletable.org/intro/d ... inable.pdf. More info on http://www.eatwellguide.org

"Those concerned about these interrelated issues of public health, food irradiation, factory farms and ethical treatment of animals may find the online Eat Well Guide of use. The Minneapolis-based Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy has released this guide to help consumers and institutional food buyers purchase meat raised without antibiotics. A growing body of evidence suggests that these meats are less likely to be tainted with antibiotic-resistant bacteria. "

"Tips for reading labels and identifying meat raised without antibiotics, including meat that is organic, no irradiated, raised humanely and grass- or pasture-fed, and raised sustainably. (Much of this meat is from animals not raised on growth hormones, which have been banned by the European Union because of links to cancer and early-onset puberty in humans.) "

Enriched wheat flour (white flour) "Contrary to what its name suggests, enriched flour is actually poor in nutrition because most of the grain's nutrients are destroyed in the refining process. The reason they enrich it is because they already stripped out anything that was worth a darn in it, and they add a little bit back so it doesn't look so bad. Instead, look for labels that say "100 percent" whole grains and whole grain flours. It has its kernels, it has its B vitamins—all the things you want to be in there."

Another thing to mention about processed foods. Not only do they reduce preperation time, but more importantly, they reduce digestion time. Most people don't think of it this way, but it takes energy to digest food. Processed foods eliminate that necessary energy and mean that there's even more of a surplus there sitting in your body. Obviously, any energy you don't use goes to fat.

Organic milk tastes so much better than regular milk once you get used to it lol... when I try drinking regular milk now I feel nauseous..

Organic eggs taste better too.. haven't tried any other organic product though, but I don't eat all this junk stuff anyways so it's fine for the most part.
