I think I've seen a new zone in the opening intro (before the character selection). Maybe these were added for that? >.>

You remember being inside the palace together with other adventurers?>_>Originally Posted by Qeomash
It's fun to go through and fine stuff like this :D The mundane truth, though, is that a lot of it doesn't mean anything at all, it's just random stuff that was never fully implemented or is left-over from some long-forgotten beta testing stage. Heck, if you go through the POL memory space while you've got it running you'll see the NPC dialog for that Heroes BC they did at one of the fan events, the one where you fought Trion, the guy from Bastok and Ajido-Marujido. Obviously you can't participate in that BC anymore, haven't been able to in years, but for some reason it's still in there.
Mostly likely this is a lot like the Hot Coffee thing that got Rockstar in so much trouble (only far less sexy). Leftover code and assets that some underpaid intern forgot to remove from the update list because there's a billion DATs and he couldn't be bothered![]()
If it's like some of the other "Fanfest" type BCNM's, you could get an item that allowed you to do the battle again with your own character. So in theory, there could be people out there that still could do it.Originally Posted by Lokim

Edit:
It requires a Cordial Invite to enter. Those who attended last year's FanFest and participated in their exhibition of the Heroes Combat recieved one in their Delivery Box. I got one, Sireen got one, and Coejus got one. And we've only done this once, so we've still got 2 more.
Not to brag, but I was on the first team to attempt this battle in the US, with a group of strangers, at a small FanFestival they had last year in College Station, Texas (several months before the big one in LA). Our team won. We were the only people - up to that point, JP or NA or EU that had beaten it. I won this really sweet Nvidia video card for that... though I don't remember the model of it. I sold it on eBay & bought a Radeon X1900.
Anyway, point being is, just because some of those things you don't have access to, doesn't mean they don't have a point.
Actually I think my real point is, YOU SHOULD COME TO FAN FESTIVAL TO GET COOL SHIT.
Cue flamewar between Nvidia fanboys vs ATI fanboys.Originally Posted by riddaraan
OMG (Nvida/ATI) is soooo much better than (ATI/Nvidia). (ATI/Nvidia) cards are pure shit with crappy drivers and they break after a few months.
I stand corrected. Also: repaired!Originally Posted by riddaraan

Actually, the Nvidia card was PCI Express, and I didn't have a PCI Express slot on my motherboard. So, because I'd been using ATI for so long, I just bought a ATI card to upgrade. Now, I use a Nvidia card that my friend gave me, on a new motherboard he gave me.
Actually, I think you'd find yourself really disappointed. We played the battlefield with BLU, BLU, RDM, RNG, BLM, and really cleaned it up. It took us about 4 minutes, tops, and we never got in any danger of losing. It was so much easier than what I'd played at the FanFestivals, simply because originally, you were limited to the basic 6 unmeritted jobs. The only real reason to do this BC is to gain the title.Originally Posted by Lokim

If they held one within the city of Pittsburgh, I probably would. But since nothing good ever happens here... ;_;Originally Posted by riddaraan

In a random almost-slightly-vaguely related to the topic note... Is anyone else getting errors with POLUtils? I tried looking through the dialogue tables and it gives me an error and crashes. Same if I try to look at pretty much any dat (though item lists work).
And there's all sorts of random stuff in the dats... "Smithers, release the hounds!" in every area comes to mind. Seems like it's just some sort of test area they used to take screenshots, though it's odd they'd have still included it. Especially since new areas would usually only be on the expansion disk o_O
One random thing that comes to mind - how does it show different areas in cut scenes? I noticed that it has to have the names of NPCs that are shown in CSs in other areas in the dats (eg things like Shadow Lord being shown in the NPC list for Jeuno, even though he's shown in CSs that are in Xarcabard or something) but how does it then load the landscape of the area? If that made any sense at all. Perhaps that's what these are for, cutscenes. Who knows really.
You should work with RPG Maker XP sometime...same general idea of rendering "scenes of different landscapes" and etc in a different area.
If there was one in the Midwest I'd go.We have large cities too: Chicago and Minneapolis.
Well, Crawler's Nest has been confirmed to appear in the past. So, I think its safe to say we will have more than 24 areas.
And we'll probably be able to zone freely between them, too, e.g. Rolanberry to Crawler's Nest, or Beaucedine to Batallia, versus being isolated to Beaucedine if you entered the past in Beaucedine, or Batallia if you entered the past in Batallia.Originally Posted by BRP
Plus, I think they stated as much, too.
What's the source on this? Not saying you're lying but I thought I'd been paying attention but I haven't seen anything about which zones will be in the past and moving freely between them(which was a concern for me.)Originally Posted by Khamsin
