chat log font size...

I know this is a really random question probably, but I just reinstalled ffxi and brought my resolutions back from looking like ps2. But for some reason my text in chat log still looks rather large, and i did adjust the background and overlay resolutions so its not that, anyone know a way to shrink it? I know ive seen some SS with the text real small and clean, but like i said i know its pretty random. any help is much appreciated thanks....

You can use a reg-edit program like Mogtoolz to change the overlay resolution to sizes larger than the ffxi config program will let you.

Or just use the windower splash screen to change the overlay resoulution.

yea i use mogtoolz and my overlay is at max right now, but its kinda like big text in a little box. Im guessing it cant be done with just text in chat log alone, no big deal really im just being superficial since its a reinstall and i want everthing to be perfect. thanks tho

I don't think it's possible to shrink the log text in absolute terms. Any screens you're seeing with small text are probably resized after they were taken. If the log is taking up too much of the screen for your taste, try a larger game resolution (as opposed to the background res).

Edit : In other words, the 3-D parts of FFXI are the only parts affected by increasing the background buffer size. 2-D overlays are never placed into that buffer in the first place and are rendered as-is.
