No death penalty here, and I doubt it will ever be adopted. There's only, like, five million of us, killing even the bad ones is bad for economy, see?Originally Posted by Khamsin

No, but we do offer the death penalty for killing 8 people.Originally Posted by Scythiroth

Reminds me of Death Note but even more retarded.
So to punish the guy that killed 8 people and then tried to commit suicide so he doesn't have to deal with the consequences of his actions you want to kill him?Originally Posted by Khamsin
It's the law, not my idea. Gotta obey the law.Originally Posted by Bweigelt
Although, I can see the point. The justice system is preventative, not punative, so the death penalty is merely a sure way to prevent him from doing something like this again, even moreso than life in prison since it eliminates the possibility of an escape, appeal, parole, rehabilitation, or any other possible ways out. Whether or not he suffers is the wrong way to look at it, and not the goal of the justice system. That's why we did away with cruel and unusual punishment.
Because death is the easy way out. Life in prison is you stuck helpless for the rest of your life.Originally Posted by Khamsin

When you trap a bunch of barbarians with a nation-wide drinking problem in darkness for
half their lives some psychological problems are bound to emerge.
I'm not sure where the statistics stand these days, but in the mid 90s Finland had
the second highest violence rate (after the U.S) and the second highest suicide rate
(after Japan).
Sad.
Yeah, you've checked a few a statistics and now suddendly you know everything about Finland.Originally Posted by mordo

Barbarians, eh? And you base this on... what, exactly? The fact that we defended our homeland from Germans, Russians and Swedes, fought for our independence and have never started a war? As for the "nation-wide drinking problem", I'd also like to see your source on that... just for the record, I've never even touched alcohol.
Honestly, don't talk shit about things you know nothing about.
Finland and Sweden are often ranked highest in best places to live in the world based on a bunch of stats, like life expectancy, crime rate etc. so I'm not sure about those stats of yours.
Haha oh wow, Finland's national defense force on the scene.
And here I thought you couldn't get any more childish. How wrong was I...Originally Posted by BRP
Finland seems like a nice place, I've always wanted to visit Scandanavia D: , does 1 scandinavian country harbor some kind of hate for a different one? I've never known this.
I think they're simply pushed towards a disbelief in god from their anger, then they decide they can act as god and wipe out the weak sheep.Originally Posted by Ramor

Why so hostile, are you saying that alcohol is NOT a problem in Finland? I recommend that you keep it that way. Here's a link for you though

Note that these statistics end in 2005, and in 2006 the alcohol taxation was lowered, which lead
to a significant increase in alcohol consumption; if you followed the last elections you know this.
Yeah...Honestly, don't talk shit about things you know nothing about.
