Jack Bauer defeated by the writers strike :(

    http://www.eonline.com/news/article/ind ... topstories

Apologies if there was a more recent/suited topic for this, but didn't see anything that wasn't a week old...please lock/move/delete if it belongs somewhere else.

    So yeah...Season 7 debut postponed.

Jack Bauer has met his match: Striking writers.

The seventh-season launch of 24, scheduled for January, has been postponed due to the ongoing union writers' strike, Fox said Wednesday.

24 is the latest casualty of the walkout that began Monday. Several shows, including NBC's The Office, have shut down production. ABC's Desperate Housewives was to follow suit on Thursday.

I don't think there is a non-news/reality show that isn't effected by this. I know The Shield was able to finish production, but it is one of few examples.

So, wait, they're writing and shooting at the same time? As in, they're making mid-season and late-season story changes? That's prolly gonna suck like last season's half-cocked drivel, anyways.

As in, most shows don't have 24 complete episode scripts ready to go before the show starts shooting, and it'd be fucking gay to start 24 and only have a ~7 episode season.

I forget the exact terms, but it was something involving either more money or benefits of some kind, I forget.

I kinda figured that would be the case too, I mean what else could it be? stop the war?

    It's always money or benefits.

As complex as writing a story diced up into 24 hour segments is, before even going into the plot, you'd think they'd at least have the entire thing planned out before going into production. It's a legacy show, so it's not gonna get cancelled mid-season that easily. Fairly poor planning on their part, if they can't finish the show due to not having the script done before they even start filming.

Even if you have the entire storyboard planned out, you still have to have, you know, writers to make the scripts.

Without writers, yes, the show would stop mid-season. Look around, the same thing is going to happen to almost every other scripted show on tv.

I normally don't watch very much TV, so I really didn't care about the strike...

But Jesus, think of what will happen to America w/o Jack Bauer to save us all Q_________Q

That and Scrubs are the only two shows I actually watch Q_Q
