According to Kenesian Economic the government is supposed to spend money during a recession.....well the huge debt could get much much much worse now if Bush tries the theory (its become the standard model for western nations in the last 20 years)

Just wait, this high dollar will spell recession in Canada's manufacturing and resource industry soon enough.

actually our manufacturing jobs are getting destroyed but somehow jobs in other sectors are booming. in the last month with the dollar surging we made something like 37,000 new jobs nationwide. Im still trying to figure out why thats happening, but it is.

Almost all the job gains recently have been in the service and knowledge sectors. Which is great for a university-educated urbanite like myself, but for families and individuals in rural areas relying on resource jobs it will be tough. In my home province of B.C. the forestry industry had just started recovering from the whole softwood lumber tariff debacle, now a softening U.S. housing and building economy is going to gut what's left of the industry.

A little too doom and gloom? Perhaps, but soon even in Ontario you'll be hearing about the mill closures out West.

Yeah the forestry shut downs are pretty brutal, like the interior of BC wasn't already emptying at a record pace. Vancouver is blowing up but the irony is a lot of the jobs being generated are not going to Canadians. Microsoft is moving up here and of the 700 people being hired a large portion of them are Korean developers that microsoft couldn't bring into the US. Add an asian gang war into the mix and suddenly the nicest city in the world is looking a lot more like a cesspool.

Even though Victoria's fucking lame most of the time, at least I won't get shot if I want to go down to Richmond for supper or drive through Wally (though why I would is beyond me)

Filled up this week, $3.25 here in FL. IDK about all you rich people, but I'm honestly getting owned. I had $10k in savings at the beginning of the this year and now I can barely live paycheck to paycheck now. Fuck bush.
