Well if it supports 1080i, that mean it has a res of 1920x1080 but it doesn't say that on the sears site. So if it does support 1080i, what would be the difference between that and 1080p when using it as a computer monitor?

I think only 1080P gets the 1920x1080 resolution. My 32" supports 1080i, but I'm limited to 1366x768.

No, 1080i is still 1920x1080, it's just refreshed every other vertical line, not every line as in progressive. The resolution is still the same. 720i/p is 1280x720.

Does that mean if i use it as a desktop monitor i can set it at 1920x1080 even though it says it's res is 1360x768?

yes, unless you have like a 50"+ tv or stand 2 feet away from it, you likely won't notice much of a difference. also most games are only designed for 720p anyways, as they can push better framerates as such. if you're all about having the top of the line, get 1080p for the extra $500. but seriously, 720p isnt bad, and most 720p sets can do 1080i if you really want to see what 1080 lines of res looks like.

The actual display you have is 1366x768. Any content at a higher (1080i/p) or lower (720, 480i/p) resolution will be scaled to fit the screen. While you can display 1080i content with it, you're not actually getting 1080i...just a downsize of the 1920x1080 1080i image at 1366x768.


It's one of the sneakiest things they do with HDTV's tbh, you really need to pay attention to the panel's actual dimensions and not just what it's capable of displaying. However, yes, like Izembo said, until you get to 40"+ sets, you're not going to notice it much unless you have damn good eyesight.
