    Re: WotG and Tu'Lia

Prishe and everyone else comment on it being like that the first time you go there... which is right after Bahamut flies there? So I'd assume it has to be something to do with Bahamut.

Don't really remember if the vortexes in Valkurm and Qufim are explained... I'm sure there was something mentioned, but I'm not sure. Something to do with the emptiness? Either way I don't think it would be anything to do with the events of the war, otherwise why would they have only appearedwhen the events of CoP started, and not been there forever?

It does seem like Tavnazia won't be accessible, which is really a shame =/ Would really love to see the original Tavnazia during the war era. I'd like to say that maybe they'll add it in a later update, but do large areas ever get added in updates? I wasn't even 75 when CoP was added so I don't know about sea and stuff... The only areas that come to mind that were added later on are things like the Diorama ballista areas... possibly Einherjar? I know that Alzadal and Salvage areas were in ToAU with the installation.

the data for zones (ie the area itself) always comes in the installation disc itself so if old tavnazia is in there, it'd be in our files from Nov 20 onward already..

I'm under the impression that zone files are a tad too big and messy to put into update patches. They've also never done something of the like.. since everything they do is pretty well planned.. so that should clear the air about that..

I actually think pre-war Tavnazia would be a featured zone in WotG.. but then again if theres nothing you can buy there it'd make it rather boring anyway..

I'm pretty sure they actually SAY it was because of the Lightbringer in one of the cutscenes... but I'm not sure which one.

I did and it's full of nothing but supposition. You say that both Ulmia and Prishe would know if the Riverne had been left that way for the past 20 years but they also mention numerous times that Prishe had essentially been locked up in Tavnazia for being the Abhorrant One.

Edit: As a side note, I'm actually in the process of recording all of the CoP cutscenes and splicing them together up to Chapter 6-4 (because that's where I'm at in CoP). So I hope to be able to provide some definitive proof.

Prishe: You wouldn't believe the hell I've been through! Listen up, you lot!
A bunch of nasty critters have gathered on Cape Riverne. I'd keep away from
that place if you like your organs on the inside of your body. Those monsters
    don't play nice.

Ondieulix: What's this? What is going on out there?

Parelbriaux: Prishe, I saw a weird cloud stretching out towards Cape Riverne.
Do you have any idea of what it was?

Prishe: Oh, that. I just caught a glimpse of it, but I'm pretty sure that was
the vapor trail of some huge goddamn dragon. But don't you worry your little
heads about it. I'm going out again after I check our provisions. Heh heh!
And this time I'm gonna head in a whole lot further. By the way, have any
    of you seen Justinius?
Someone who just got back from Riverne to let you know that there are some monsters there would not be freaked out by the sight of it floating in the air a few days later unless it was not floating in the air a few days earlier

Alright, my initial stance was full of supposition, but the game script after you kill minotaur pretty much fucking proves that it wasn't lightbringer, and most likely bahamut's doing.

I mean how can you deny "oh we just come back from riverne, don't go there, lotsa kickass mobs around" and "what the hell happened here" + "is this riverne" the next time they got there.

    Re: WotG and Tu'Lia

Cape Riverne wasnt floating in the sky for 20 years, the recent activities of Bahamut is what caused the entire cape to traverse into the sky, shortly after you and Nag'molada appear in the Tavnazian Archipelago.

Parelbriaux: Prishe, I saw a weird cloud stretching out towards Cape Riverne.
Do you have any idea of what it was?

Obviously the wierd cloud hes talking about is infact Cape Riverne itself, and i assume he didnt live in the safehold 20 years and not see this cloud sticking out like a sore thumb over the skies of Cape Riverne.

Riverne's anti-gravity thing was not caused by Bahamut either. It was caused by an earthquake that happened 'recently'. It says so right on the CoP website..

It -was- caused by Bahamut, and recently enough for members of the Safehold to wonder why the hell part of there isolated island full of monsters is up in the sky as told by Prishe and Ulmia upon zoning into Riverne Site-A01.

Bahamuts reason for tearing the cape and throwing it up into the sky seems to be his plan to create a staging ground by which he and his army of Wyrms can attack mankind. Isnt Cape Riverne referred somewhere as the "wyrms nest"?

Anyways, im 99% sure that Riverne is just a normal part of the coastline and wouldnt even be a seperate zone if it was infact in WotG. It could just be a part of lufaise/miserieux coast with the label "Cape Riverne" for nostalgias sake.

Or you could take the words at face value, and he saw Bahamut's jet stream heading towards Cape Riverne.

None of these people are freaking out over the Cape itself. You're all reading into it. I just watched the PM2-5 Misereaux Coast cutscene again. Prishe enters and she says "Whoa! What the hell happened here!?" Followed by Ulmia asking if they're in Cape Riverne.

Prishe's demeanor (the one thing that isn't being mentioned) isn't of one that has been to Cape Riverne before. The dialogue, out of context, could be misconstrued to make you think that she had been there before but I believe that given the context of the cutscene, they are simply having her say those lines to represent what they believe the player will be feeling.

...Except for the fact that Prishe says she just got back from Riverne after the 2-3 fight.

And you call my theory filled with supposition.

Your theory has so much supposition, that if it's anymore suppositioned, it'd be up someone's ass. Yes, that was a suppository joke.

Except that's what this conversation is, a discussion of peoples' interpretations of the story. You offered your supposition and then I offered mine. Saying that my head is up my ass for having an opinion is pretty ridiculous.

Having rewatched more cutscenes, I do see the part where Prishe says she just got back from Cape Riverne... that casts doubt on my theory as well.

If by "cast some doubt" you mean "completely blew it out of the water" then yeah.

"However, during a recent earthqauke, large chunks of the area were ripped from the ground and now float alongside the clouds above the churning sea. A Tavnazian expedition is currently investigating the area, working only from a few notes taken by Goblin explorers"

I read 'recent' as in, after the war. Considering they like to make specifics before or during war. And I really don't recall anything specifically saying the Lightbringer caused it, I could be wrong but

'Recent' is vague enough that you could draw anything you want from it, so it's a moot point.

I like to think the Lightbringer itself wasn't the most destructive force, but it happen to hit a plate. This caused the plate to basically shift violently. This tore and sunk the peninsula rather than "explode it" and caused the mysterious appearance of the mountain range(s) that blocked access to Vollbow. I recall a tiny note that mentioned all of Vana'diel physically felt the destruction and I can't help but felt curious that Tavnasia doesn't look "nuked" like the Northlands.

Well, there is that whole stupid flower thing that could surpress Lightbringer.

Eshan'tarl was in the area to guide the survivors to the safehold, so she could have surpressed the power somehow, before or after she saved the people of tavnazia.

    Re: WotG and Tu'Lia

Ok, this comes down to one question:

If the Lightbringer did have some effect on Riverne, and we know most of its damage was on the opposite side of the island, why didn't it affect that side the same way and why isn't everything in the middle the same?
If it was a simple earthquake, why would riverne be in the air?

"All things being equal, the simplest explanation is usually the best one."

Prishe was surprised at the state of Riverne. You can draw whatever you want from this, but she had been on that island for the past 20 years and had made regular patrols. While not impossible, it’s highly unlikely that she had never seen the area before, especially since she knew exactly how to get there.

It was first stated that Beastman Warmachines exploding was the cause of Tavnasia being cut off from the rest of the world, but we now know better. The Lightbringer is responsible for that, and since Riverne is on the opposite side of the island, it's unlikely that it could have affected both without damaging the area in between more severely.

Bahamut’s arrival, along with the rumbling felt afterwards, happen immediately before Riverne is discovered floating. It is well within Bahamut’s power to pull all that land from the ground, He probably did it to better suit his tastes and purposes: It’s a chain of islands in the sky, not only does it offer a certain amount of protection, it is the best fit for creatures that fly.

The conclusion is that what happened in Riverne is exactly what is overtly stated or implied in the narrative: Bahamut did it to create a nest for himself and his followers, because he knew (thought) that was the area in which the Keeper of the Apocalypse would appear.
