    Astonishing X-Men #23

    Astonishing X-Men #23, page 34. Holy crap.

    Seriously, why can't Joss Whedon keep writing this forever? ;_;

It's not so much of a singe thing, just the cumulation of several issues of intrigue. If you weren't following the story it really wouldn't mean much, but for people who have been it is a "holy crap" moment.

Speaking of comic spoilers, the last issue of Illuminati is downright jaw dropping.

Thanks Septimus, now i have to go out and get the Joss Whedon books for Astonishing... DOH!

Saw a few scans, looks like a great arc. Any idea how many more Whedon has left before Ellis takes over?

It made my dick hard when I read it. Yeah I'm that guy in Newbury Comics on Newbury St. standing there for over an hour reading all the new comics not buying a god damn thing. Well maybe a Death CD next week.

After Joss Whedon finishes up (#24 and then a one shot special), Warren Ellis is taking over writing duties on Astonishing so.... should still be a good read. Maybe they'll even get the issues out on time.

Regardless, I've absolutely loved Astonishing X-men. The Danger storyline was a bit odd (though the fight between Professor X and Danger was sweet), but "Torn" and "Unstoppable" have been downright amazing. I'm really glad that Whedon chose to focus so much of his run on Cyclops. Ignoring how lame he came off in the movies, Cyclops has always been my favorite X-man. When he destroys the Sentinel in "Dangerous" is so amazingly badass

Not to get off Weston but I'm interested to see where the messiah complex series is going, it seems like it has potential to wrap up M - Day. I'm still waiting for WWH 5 to come out. It should be pretty good, Sentry head to head with the Hulk. I swear to fucking god if something really lame happens, Sept we need to take a ride to Marvel HQ and bash some fucking skulls in.

I just can't believe i HAVEN'T been reading Astonishing X-Men... i guess after a few years i just got too jaded about the whole line of books. Used to be my top comic (started just before the Claremont run a long time ago) but it just got stale after a few... years =P

Whedon's writing just really suits the team, and love his style, and wit.

Got the Trade with #1-6, and a few backissues, and then accidentally bought two of #23 (good job... variant covers + not paying attention.) Love Ellis, so excited to see that soon, though it is too bad i missed all of Whedon's stuff as it was coming out. Thanks for the heads up Septimus!

Dude, it is a rule of thumb with Marvel events: the better the start, the worse the finish.

Hose of M: Strong start, weak finish
Civil War: Amazing start, ridiculous finish.
World War Hulk: Fantastic start, abysmal finish.

And it still amazes me to this day that DC has been able to publish weekly comic events for one and a half years now without a single delay but Marvel is wholly incapable of keeping up a monthly schedule for their events. >_>

Yeah but DC's has been doing pretty horrible in actually story quality(especially during Countdown). Sinestro Corps and Booster Gold are the only things I can touch.

That's because Dan DiDio is the Anti-Christ. (Alex Ross is Satan.) The editorial direction at DC seems to be to have the highest death count possible in every story.

But I have noticed that recently I have been picking up less DC books, and canceling subscriptions to the ones that I have. (Dumped Wonder Woman two months ago, both of the Superman titles a few weeks ago.)

    Nice!!!

On that tip, anyone know where I can get this quality of scans for the Astonishing Xmen? I'm interested in reading them, but there's no ready availability here for such things.
