    Noobish Dyna-sandy question

Maybe i should be posting this in the noob forums, and please move it there if it's more appropriate for that forum. a thought occurred to me after a great many dyna-sandy runs where, despite the best efforts of the puller, we almost always link the whole of both east and west gates. at least for the east gate, i can get up on top of the battlements above the courtyard with minimal effort. would i be able to manaburn out statues from above in such a pattern that the mobs could no longer link, or would this just convert it to a guaranteed link? am i still better off just trying to pull the old way, waiting for the statue in back to go all the way to the back of the yard? i did some hunting and couldn't find any evidence of anyone trying it, but that's not to say it's not out there. my apologies if this has been talked about before.

The statues link with the mobs that pop in the doorway. It wouldn't matter how you kill it/pull it if you don't hit it when the back statue is out of link range of the mobs that will pop.

send a nin or whoever doesnt care about losing exp to go past the status aggro all of them. Then 2hr mijin when all of the mobs popped. For sure, leave alliance before doing that.

After that, the puller just watch on the radar of the moving statue inside the gate. You should able to pull by either only 1 stone + 2mobs coming or maximum of 3 stone+ 6 mobs coming.

Kainhighwind usually does this pull for us w/o linking. I'm sure he reads this. Kain tell them how you do it rofl.

Unless you can one-shot with magic, I don't think a manaburn would be very clean. The statue + orcs would make a train after your first nuke.

The trick to clean pull here is to ignore the street side statue and just shoot the grass side statue when it's closest to you (i.e. furthest from the stationary NM cluster). You'll get 2 at a time from the arches, then only the NM group remains; all very manageable. That's a key point in all Dyna zones: the position of the statue you're pulling matters a lot less than the position of the one you're afraid of linking.

    Re: Noobish Dyna-sandy question

I find that a lot of pulling in Dynamis is about timing. Watch, wait and learn the paths of the statues. It's better to lose 30s for the statues to make another loop than it is to spend 5+ minutes recovering from a wipe.

You can pull the Sandy gate statues link free if you time your /ra to coincide with the peak of their movement towards the vendor stalls. Keep in mind that your /ra or whatever you use to pull has a delay though, so initiate it appropriately early so that it lands, not starts at the peak of the movement. It also helps but not fully prevents mob pathing issues if you stand and pull at zero degree angles to the target as it increases the chance they won't decide the path of least resistance to you is to swing 50' left before coming at you.

A lot of Dynamis pulling is also experience. All the strategy guides and posts in the world won't make you great right at the start, so while it can be a steep and messy learning curve, keep at it and you'll be doing fine soon enough.

It's also not only about the movement of the statues. You need to know where the mobs of the statue you are pulling gonna spawn.

    Re: Noobish Dyna-sandy question

The E/W.Ron gates in sandy link all the way back to their NMs not because of the outside roamers, but because of the inside roamers. The thing to do to not link the pull EVER is to watch the inside roamers and pull them deliberately when they're safely at maximum distance from the NM spawn area. You'll get two statues that way, but no giant train. The position of the outer roamer when you pull matters not at all. You just have to give a bit of lead time for the spawns to come up and agro the inner roamer when it's at maximum range from the NM steps.

You can try to not link the inside roamer at all, but that's a great deal harder than deliberately agro'ing at a good time. Even if you succeed with all 3, some idiot will poke his head into the area to see what's inside when you move the raid up and agro the entire thing on you.

    Re: Noobish Dyna-sandy question

Been awhile since I've done sandy but as I remember it, I pull the first outside statue then sneak my way inside. I aggro pull because the timing is more exact than ranged and can get those inside statues not to link everything with relative ease the way people have been saying. It's a lot easier to watch from the inside.
