Can anyone confirm something for me. After reading that Q & A my ls is under the impression that the thf has to be in the party for TH to be active, not alliance. So say someone whose not in the thf's pt, but in the alliance kills the mob, TH won't be active. I'm pretty sure thats a croc of shit, but I'd just like some confirmation so I can prove them wrong.

From everything that's been put together, it seems that TH puts a status effect on the monster that only goes away if the monster loses aggro and resets to 100% HP. So, as said before, your TH4 THF/WHM could cast banish on it, warp, log out, delete character, uninstall FFXI, etc... and TH will still be on the mob unless it resets to 100% HP. I think this was stated a few times in this thread already.

You could completely wipe, have a backup party/alliance without TH in it claim and kill, and TH will still kick in from the THF. Or, if you steal a mob from an LS that wipes who put a TH1/2/3/4 on the mob, you would get that effect if you claimed said mob before it regened to full.

One other idea, for statues/eyes that you have a group of blm time nukes to one-shot, could have one blm go /thf..

Yeah, but he meant in xarc for example you waste a buncha mobs (mostly eyes) that you can't get TH4 on or it's just too much of a pain...
Well, my ls does xarc with 20~ usually so I dunno how others manage them...

On the other hand, I don't think blm/thf is a good idea, because it's just TH1.. although I'm speaking for small manned dyna.

I'm thinking that I might go thf/blm and spam diaga on everything. That way we will get TH.

    Re: Treasure Hunter

I wanna check this or at least get it in writing so that i dont have to deal with certain individuals that have a different interpretation of what SE gave us.

The basic idea is that i think that i can just ping a monster with th3~4 then swap to "real" DD gear for the rest of the fight.
This theory is based on the fact that the th4 is the highest effect on the monster and cant be deleted by a lower TH. Because of this I beleive that me swapping to a lower TH will have no effect on the Th4 I already used on the monster due to the rule mentioned above.
    Anyone think differently?

Man, I didn't realize that you could have different interpretations of:

    1. Highest TH to hit the mob goes into effect.
    2. ???
    3. Profit.

    Since 4 > 3 then I'm pretty sure that TH3 wouldn't override TH4.

    Re: Treasure Hunter

Think about this! Since TH0 won't overwrite TH4 already on, instead of swapping for better melee gear, just swap in a better melee!

I'll be sure to try that in the middle of salvage or while killing some random NM in a duo/solo/ect like kreuzet.

lol, I love the responses I got from thieves when I told them that one TH is applied, that is it, killshot, number of TH, moonphase, chanting and shaking a stick... none of it matters, just get where if everyone else died, the monster would come kill you, and it's got your TH on it.

If SE ever wants to give Thieves a buff, make TH require the Thief to actually be in the fight start to finish.

That's more of a nerf than a buff. As of now, the TH ability is awesome. Apply it and switch out your gear to do a ton of damage quickly.

    Re: Treasure Hunter

TH being a "debuff" could work. Kind of reminds me of the old bug where DRKs with a Dispel weapon could remove the Undead tag from various undead mobs if it triggered.

I think he meant that with the current information that thieves will get into an alliance, plink their crossbow(woot acid) do feint then disband and watch while all the better dd's get to maul down the mob. Instead he suggests that SE forces alliances to use thieves otherwise NOTH4U lolz!

    Re: Treasure Hunter

Oh I understood what he was saying... I still think that's a nerf. Bumping the job would be something like making them do comparible damage to the better DDs, not nerfing their abilities to force the alliance to have to keep them in it or lose the TH effect.

The TH clarification conversation said nothing at all about moonphase.

If moonphase do actually affect drops, I doubt it's got anything to do with Treasure Hunter.

If it does, it would affect drops in general (With or without TH.), so he's somehow correct I guess.
