What I did to test things out and make sure I had TH4 on every mob was I had one of my TH4 main call mobs in Xarcabard last Wednesday. This helps with making sure that every mob we killed had a TH4 attack on the mob and the results were amazing (our best totals in Xarcabard) whether it was just dumb luck or what not.
THF
RDM
NIN
WAR (All 4 of those within the 1st 5 mins of the run.)
Ended up with 9 total AF and 3 100 pieces
PLD, RDM, DRK, DRG and SMN the last hour of the run.
Going to test the next several runs with having a main TH4 calling each mob as well as a TH4 to tag every statue. Doing another Xarc run tonight so will see how this 1 goes.
and at least 2 people (you and the person you quoted) that seem to have no idea that SE did in fact clarify TH in an interview posted on here, sure in some other thread that you may not have read but referenced so much in this thread I really have no idea how you can say something like "Even if SE gives us...".Originally Posted by Zragnarok

Now you're thinking with portals!Originally Posted by Max™
Personally, I don't like the idea of not even performing an action on the mobs, I mean... I went thf/blm to dynamis today when we manaburned for the first time in bastok and hit everything with sleepga, got 650 currency and 18 AF. It's not really hard to sleepga, and has anyone proven that TH is applied simply by resting and not performing an action on the mob?
Edit: this was supposed to be in a different topic that linked to this >_> oops, oh well; it's on topic.
Many people still don't understand TH 100%, THF must be in alliance? THF must be in PT? THF should actually perform an action on the mob? all the mobs? can i heal? is that good enough for TH to kick in?Originally Posted by Alistaire
Why TH has many questions is because it is directed to drop rates, unlike other job traits, you cannot really measure it, unless that creator gives us some solid facts about it.
Double Attack, Triple Attack, HP Boost, Killer traits, Accuracy bonus, all traits can be tested, but not TH.
So, did SE really answer all the questions about TH? how exactly does it work? if they did, then i obviously missed it. What i read (long time ago) you should be in hate list, and thats all.
You obiviously didn't catch what I wanted to say. I know what SE said, I know that SE they clarified a few points of TH, but one definition can't cover all the question someone could have. There will always be someone who will ask a question or have doubts about that definition.Originally Posted by Alistaire
Take for example this thread. We know what SE said, someone quoted SE in one of the previous post. But the fact is, we're on page 3 and ppl are asking all kind of question like if the THF need to engage, can he just aggro by /healing, etc...
If it matters that much you could always, you know, go and test it.Originally Posted by Firas_Gattz
To the guy above, you don't need to engage or thf/blm wouldn't have worked. The reported coin counts in bastok match normal bastok numbers.
Well, even with all of these new revelations on TH, it still stands that drops are very, very random. You could tag TH4 individually on every single mob in Dynamis and still get nothing, or go without TH and get lots of stuff (it'd be much more rare to have this happen, but it's possible).Originally Posted by DrObvious
The thing I was just finding myself debating was do ga's count? I mean, don't ga's have some weird property to them? I think I remember someone saying that if you ga a bunch of mobs in one shot, using only one target, you won't get the loot from the surrounding mobs (or was I mistaken on that?). I'm guessing they do count, but there's always the possibility that only the target of the ga spell gets the TH effect... Maybe the THF would need to spam single target spells on each mob for full effect? I'm thinking /BRD and putting random single target spells on each slept mob as fast as possible, if this were the case... Might be worth trying out sometime in Dynamis.
I dunno, just more thoughts to chew on for a while...
In one of the old Dynamis runs a couple years back when we had lots of BLMs, we used to ga3 everything. Once 2 AF2 dropped from 5 killed mobs from 2 different mobs in a ga3. So its just about the same as killing mobs one by one.
Another time a group of us ga3 a group of Stones, all the mobs dropped items. At times none of them did. So it really depends on the O'Mighty random number generator.
If you don't have a single person with treasure hunter in the zone, you'll know. This happened once, and the coin count was drastically lower than it usually is(< 100 singles). I have never, ever, seen so few singles in a city besides that one time.Originally Posted by Edrick
Someone already went /blm and spammed sleepga to show that it works(only thf in the zone iirc). The question is whether you can just /heal and get the th effect. Again, this isn't as hard to test as you think, rams, gilfinder on beastmen which seems to work the same way as th, etc.The thing I was just finding myself debating was do ga's count? What you're thinking about is the rumor that training multiple low-level enemies and gaing them all would reduce drops compared to if you killed them one by one. Which may be true, but always seemed like a spiteful lie started by people who couldn't compete with this farming method and wanted to scare people out of it.
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Fan_F ... Blog#Q.26AQ:How does TH effect drops in battlefields, dynamis, chest contents.
A:
-No effect on chests.
-Same effect in dynamis etc. as elsewhere.
-For TH to be active THF must hit target. Does not have to be killing strike.
where on that page you linked is that?
Click the link. It's under the giant (and bold) Q&A
doesnt exist on the page you linked, atleast not for me
edit: page was cached
but nonetheless i prefer to believe earlier statements from SE, rather than them tbh

Q: Do multiple instances of Treasure Hunter in a single party increase the chances of a drop? When exactly does the effect of Treasure Hunter take place?
A: When more than one member has Treasure Hunter, the player with the strongest version will have theirs take effect for the party. The effect comes into play as soon as the Thief generates enmity from the target enemy. Even if the Thief dies, the effect remains.
Well, you could always do what a lot of dynamis LSs have been doing . . . forever!
One THF melees down the current monster. Two if you have multiple tanks. One stays in the BLM party and hits statues (bolts or otherwise). Both of them wear their TH gear full time.
Judging by the ffxiclopedia thing, it's entirely possible that THF would have to actually hit stuff with his dagger (not even bolts), like a permanent en-TH or something.
New TH question asked ad answered today:
TH HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT on Chests or BC drops!!
Or, you're just taking it too literally and what they mean is "take action on."Originally Posted by Byrthnoth
