AC2 will be amazing heh (main story at least.. not talking about Altair since it'll probably be another ancestor of Desmond's..)

I just don't understand how you can walk up to a guard and kill him with your finger blade thing without anyone ever noticing.

How far in the game are you? In the beginning the guards are kinda retarded but they get much stronger and they start to watch you much more closely than they did at the start of the game.

Oh ok, that's good to know. I just finished my first assasination in Damascus and it seemed a little easy to just walk up to every guy I wanted to kill and stab him in the back.

Yeah, later on more guards will be around. Like I'm on Assassination 5 atm and theres alot of guards that walk around in groups of 5. 1 Templar looking guy in the front, 2 chain mail like guards followed by 2 leather wearing guards using a formation sorta like this.

I'm in Arce atm though, but I noticed the guards get harder after assassination 3 and they will try to throw you around more at that point, not to mention there will be alot more archers on roof tops after the 3rd assassination as well as guards watching you very closely around the mark 5 point. I'm not sure how much harder they get after that point (mark 5) but you'll start to notice it.

    Re: Assassin's Creed

Yeah like I told you, after the 3rd assassination they get decent and kind of notice you more...

After the SIXTH, with 3 left to go (one in each city), al mualim tells you that they will already be looking for the "Assassin with the white hood", so it's pretty hard to walk around town or even run without getting noticed by a red dot (they don't necessarily attack you, but they'll watch you very closely.) Also, about every other fight you have with the guards in the city will trigger about 20 guards jumping you regardless of where you are, which is pretty fun but gets pretty annoying when you're trying to get away (aka after an assassination since you need to vanish before the roof of the creed's bureau opens up..)

The final 3 assassinations are pretty epic (and then there's 2 more final boss fights after that, so technically there are 11 assassinations)... just keep playing, you'll enjoy it a lot as it progresses (both Altair's storyline and Desmond's ACTUAL story..).. just keep talking to Lucy after every single memory block until she tells you to go to bed and that she "can't talk, gotta work..".. that's your cue to go to sleep and start the next part of the game.

Wow, as I read more about this game it seems a lot better than those reviews suggested lol. It does still sound like the sequel will be better, but I definitely need to pick this up eventually.

    Re: Assassin's Creed

If you don't want to buy the game cus of its relatively short playtime (about 20 hours if you take your time with everything, about 30 if you're collecting flags/templar kills too..) that's your call... but you owe yourself to renting this game if you own a 360 or a ps3. (and replay value is pretty fun even though the storyline will get repetitive..)

    Re: Assassin's Creed

If you played GTA3, and were entertained every time you got to car jack the cops with the bat, AC is definitely a worthwhile purchase. In some respects, it has a GTA3 feel to it, where you can wander around the cities and cause trouble, and not progress at all through the story line, and still entertain yourself.

I would like a bit more of a challenge in some of the fights. I just finished my 6th assassination and I can still counter-kill an entire cadre of city guards when they jump me for beating up the beggars.

    Re: Assassin's Creed

It will get a little bit tougher for you from that point on, but it's not like it will be impossible to defeat the enemies that come at you (if you're good you can still just combo attack them or counter for the easy kill..but they will get a tad more annoying and will definitely hurt your syncronization bar in the process, doubt you'll die though unless you get careless.)

Anyone else have trouble using dodge to make it worthwhile? (r1 + x) I find it to be somewhat useless except for templars because most of the time I just counter everything with the shortblade.

    Re: Assassin's Creed

Yeah there's no reason for it really.. I use it once or twice to spice things up during fights but other than that it's pretty useless (however if you do that and then press square to attack right afterwards you'll catch the enemy offguard, which gives you a clean shot at them... if you hold square for the strong attack you'll probably take him down with 1 hit too.)

    Re: Assassin's Creed

Yeah, I mostly save it for templars because I have not once 1 hit counter killed a Templar, I think its impossible to do that lol. (Not counting the roof top jump hidden blade kills, that works)

    Re: Assassin's Creed

I usually just grab and throw the Templars to the ground and use the wrist spike to finish 'em. Takes a couple of tries sometimes as they'll grab break, but it's the simplest I've figured out for them... not like they're hard though lol.

Well countering with the blade spike is a 100% chance for a kill, though leaving you open alot. Its about the only way I find myself enjoying the fights and them being challenging in the least.

Dodge is useful when someone uses guard break on you. Instead of getting hit right after it (because as far as i know you can't counter the hit after a guard break, or i just have really bad timing/luck) you can dodge it and combo kill them.

I think they are the coolest animations too (aside from stomping on the guard's two feet and then slashing his throat with the short blade), but it usually takes me getting hit twice before I can time the counter right with the spike.
