    you thought girls only have 1 leg.
    Well, the one-legged ones are easier to convince to get on a bus with a few thousand cats inside.

    Re: Fun Math Question. Figure I share

    1582?
    7 girls = 14 legs
    7 backpacks = 49 big cats.
    49 big cats = 196 big cat legs
    49 big cats = 343 little cats
    343 little cats = 1372 little cat legs
    14 + 196 + 1372 = 1582!

    Right? D:

    each girl has 7 backpacks, there aren't 7 backpacks in general.

    And I got 10990 too.

    Yes. the answer is 10990

    I did it this way.

    7*7=49 cats+7 Big cats in each bag=56
    56*7 for backpacks. then *7 again for girls. then *4 for legs then +14 for 7 girls legs.=10990

    First time I calculated it I somehow ended up with an answer 8 higher than it should have been. Redid the exact same calculations and got the right answer. I have no idea what I did wrong.

    If the question hadn't been specified to be not a trick, I would've said 0 just cuz of the wording with "7 girls on a bus", and then asking how many legs are in the bus, but then again I've read too many Densa-type questions.

    now you ruin it for other people

    My way is to make big cats / little cats as 1 thing : 4 legged creatures; while the girls are 2-legged creatures.

    Right? D:
    Yeah, you missed a step Epical. You missed the fact that each of the seven girls has seven backpacks. I did it this way.

    7*2=14 Girl Legs
    7 (Girls)* 7 (Backpacks)* 7 (Big Cats) = 343 Big Cats
    7 (Girls) * 7 (Backpacks)* 7 (Big Cats)* 7 (Little Cats) = 2401 Little Cats

    Now, figure in the amount of legs the cats have.

    343 (Big Cats) * 4 (Legs) = 1372 Big Cat Legs
    2401 (Little Cats) * 4 (Legs) = 9604 Little Cat Legs
    14 (Girl Legs) + 1372 (Big Cat Legs) + 9604 (Little Cat Legs) = 10,990.

    My way may be a long, roundabout way of doing, but I just did it the way I remembered how from school.

    The real question is why they have so many backpacks and why they keep their cats inside of them.

    Better question!

    (and far less prone to "what stupid tricks are they pulling?")..."an" should be read as "A sub N". Subscripts are hard

    The sequence an, an+1, ... of integers has the property that for all n >= 3,

    an = an-1 - an-2

    If the sum of the first 1807 terms is 1807, and the sum of the first 1907 is 1907, what's the sum of the first 2007 terms?

    No, I didn't come up with the problem, but I thought it was a fun one to figure out.

    It only took me about 30-40 seconds, but I keep getting 10988, which apparently is wrong?

    Edit- Nevermind I got it right.... I wrote down 7x2= 12 lololol. Only took about 40 seconds to do this though. Something harder plz!

    9604+1372+14= 10990

    Gah...that was hard to calculate in my head. Problem took 10sec to solve, but it took me 5 min to do the maths.

    Years of engineering questions from professors that were out to trick you on questions to get their perfect curve made me cautious enough to get it first try. (even though there was no trick to this one...those professors did train you to spell out each step which is probably pretty important since you don't want some bridge or building collapsing with your name stamped on it)

    So is the 1807th term a1807? or a1810 since the sequence starts for n>=3?

    Re: Fun Math Question. Figure I share

    I did it in like 3 seconds... it was easy lol.

    7 girls * 7 backpacks each = 49

    49 backpacks * 7 cats = 343 cats

    343 cats * 4 legs each = 1372 legs for the big cats

    343 big cats, for each there are * 7 small cats = 2401 small cats

    2401 small cats * 4 legs each = 9604 small cat legs

    9604 small cat legs + 1372 big cat legs + 14 legs for the girls = 10,990 total legs

    a1807, so:

    a1807 = 1807

    a1907 = 1907

    a2007 = ???
