Am I the only one reading "B 052G" on the side of the cars there?

Also, don't those look an awful lot like cannons on its fore and aft?

Mm, someone on the idiot stream says I'm a moron, guess I'll go cry in a corner or something, since my feelings were supposed to be hurt..I guess..?

I'm sorry, I'm not the one who said something that I have never read in my years of being a videogame information junkie that jumps on every interview that comes down the pike.

This is exactly like POIDH, the onus is on You.

Re: Train in Gustaberg in WoTG?

I actually read that the train was confined simply to Bastok, but they removed it because it seemed unnecessary to have a train travel through the three zones. Seeing how there's a million theories as to what happened to it, though, I doubt any of these stories are more than mere guesses.

Edit: Google "Bastok monorail" returns a million topics regarding it, so yeah, have fun searching through it for anything semi-convincing.

Well- I thought nobody really knows how Airships work? Except maybe Cid now, I thought they were a Zilart invention that the Archduke carried over when he took Jeuno to being a superpower, and the bit during COP was a big thing that whatshisface had his own Airship?

    blahhhhh i forget

Cid builds his own airship in CoP (The Invincible). There's actually a mutiple quest series where Cid asks you to obtain parts for the airship (one of them in Delkfutt, I believe, and then an ore from Pso'Xja, I think?), but once you complete the quest, you can rename his ship (similar to the chocobo naming scheme). The name is then used in CoP cutscenes going forward.

Pretty sure that the Archduke provided them with the technology to build airships, though, and the point of the CoP storyline was to show that Cid was figuring out how to build their own (I think Jeuno was against anyone else making their own fleets).

Much like for you, it's just been too long to remember.

Let's not forget the Airship in ToAU that crashes with you and Naji onboard. Though that may of been one of Jeuno's? I can't even remember something that recent >_>

The Airship that was shot down was Jeuno's.
The Airship you use to get to Al'Taieu is Cid's.

Cid's Ship is faster than most other airships and has features others don't seem to have, like autopilot.

I read that originally, they were going to use trains to connect all the starting cities to Jeuno. In one of the zones outside each of the cities, you will find a path that goes underground that appears to go nowhere. This was actually the path for the train. It went undergound for most of the trip. SE decided people wouldn't like looking out the windows at rock walls, so they decided to use Airships instead.

What I wonder is, when you leave Upper Jeuno, hug the right wall up to where the fishbots used to congregate, and look on the east wall just a bit back from the cliff, there is a hole with a black wall at the back side, but it curves sharply so it couldn't be for a train thing.

If they can use Crystals to rotate a propeller rutter, I'm sure they can use them to spin wheels.

Here 2 pictures I took from the train map 2 years ago. Map did have a "chocobo forest" sign somewhere but I couldnt find my screenshot of it. The region doesnt look like gustaberg, but white building are probably bastokan.

I too have always been under the impression that the train zone / banner to chocobo forest place is the zone they use for character creation.

While I'd like to see trains in the game, it both doesn't make sense nor gel with the style of FFXI. There really is nothing medieval fantasy about trains, or magical fantasy to be honest, the way it is presented here. At least Airships are.
The trains also aren't upside down actually. This kind of train-system with the tracks on the top is called suspension railway. The head of the train does seem rather misleading tho.

It's to clear the tracks of birds nests, bats, and monkeys as it goes along.

As for trains being fantasy, they have been in Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, and 9, at least.

incidentally 6, 7 and 8 were all the more mechanically/technologically advanced FFs...

there were trains in 9? I can't really remember... lol..
but in any case they werent like so modern metallic like the one in that zone... that was kinda my point about it being out of place.. normal wooden toot toot trains im sure they'd fit nicely..

Remember when Garnet was at the train station near the beginning?

And all the trains in FF, from Doomtrain to regular passenger trains, were metallic. Although some were more boxy than others. The one in the Last Stand just happens to be sleeker than usual.

I'd hate to see a wooden steam engine, though. Do they exist?
