I really just wanted to ask a quick question to those that have an upgraded relic what thier experiences were while fighting Jailer of Love.

Just finished GK, and was using Kaiten on JoL and was only doing tops ~200 damage while most of the time my Kaitens were about 50-80, and a lot of 0's...

Gekko did 700+, Kasha averaged about 450-600 per, and regular hits were fine doing iirc, 80 or so a swing.

My gear is relatively top-notch for the most part, and I pondered for a little bit. But I can't come up with answers. Anyone else notice this? Mind you it seems explicitly to be on JoL, all other mobes I completely rape as per usual. Well... I did Kaiten AV for 0 too... It popped.

Possibly you were doing kaiten before its regen was completely dead?

Regen was dead, and again, other weponskills were doing ok. Boost Dispelled(not sure if that affects it) and no Stoneskin that I am aware of.

That Mercy Stroke is hawt lol. I'd be interested to know what factors went into that, Aura Steal Boost, 2 bards, Assassin's charge, SE/LR, Photoshop?

If you divide out the effect of that stolen Boost, the damage was actually only 704, which is still pretty damn good for THF on JoL (my WS on him are usually only 300~400 or so, though that'd be higher if I were ever actually able to get off a full SATAWS, which Slott may have done when he got that number.) So that'd be a ~700 damage Mercy Stroke compared to a ~525 damage Kaiten.

ps, that's assume that the Boost is a straight x5 multiplier which I'm pretty sure I remember folks saying it was. If it's x3, then that really was a bad ass Mercy Stroke lol

Well, they did adjust 2 handed weaponskills and the Str/att/Def/etc curve, maybe they overlooked relic? That was my line of thinkign other than some AV conspiracy thoery...

To be honest it was pretty embarrassing to get this whoop-ass tier weapon and watch it do worse than a level 60 thief would...

Rukenshin reported low Kaitens on things like Cerberus and Kirin, so JoL could be like that.

I figured out a way to tell what direction a monster is facing that has no real face. use /assist (or have somone else call it) on the monster and then since the monster should generally be facing whomever has hate you can lineup for SA based on who is the current tank with hate.

Yeah that's an old Ultima trick to figure out who has hate for Citadel Buster.

Few things:
a) My mercy stroke hit was with trick attack only. Every time I use SATA or SA it seems to negate the boost for some reason (And yes, Im fully capable of SAi + mercyfor full damage without boost) My highest ws on him without boost was about 1092 (I think SA and TA were stacked), which was...very high... If I had boost that would have been 5400 damage or so.
b) You can tell where he faces depending on his little dongles or tentacles or whatever the little bulbs are that stick out. I think the backside dongle is higher up than the front side one (or vice versa, I can't remember) Yes, lol dongle, that's why i like to refer to them as :[
c) JOL seems to experience various armor phases. Sometimes (As you can see) I mercy stroke for 2500-3500. Othertimes, even with boost... it's 700 damage. My sa or mercy damage sometimes is as low as 250. He seems to have varying defense phases, which can range from extreme to extremely low.
d) I still cant figure out why, but he absorbs EARTH damage off a darkness chain. If we Gekko > Mercy, he will absorb it in earth mode, and no other... I think I tested it out on some mobs, and earth threnody helped darkness damage more than dark threnody did, it could have been coincidence, but sample size was too small. (Maybe I should try against elementals)

please be aware slott also sexed up J-lo before his mercy, so you might want to factor that in to your Kaiten's as well

Stabbing something with a Ame-no-Murakumo IS sexing them up... At least it is for me...

I probly shouldn't even say this with the amount of data that was collected, but in some tests Ruke and I ran some time ago (same test diffrent servers) we found that Gekko seems to ignore defence slightly, I recall correctly we didn't use Kaiten at all during these tests, I don't belive Ruke had Amano yet. anyway using a *warning* very small sample size (about 30 of each ws) I invented this theoretical chart...
