All the people telling you to call up and say something generic like "I had a great time I was wondering if we could hang out again" have either A. watched too much TV and have gotten lucky with their interactions with women or B. have had no interactions with women. Either way, judging by your post you don't have much luck with women so it's much safer to try Lordwafik's approach. If you call her up all needy like people are suggesting looking for another date you will just put her off, show you aren't worth her time and she won't be interested in you.

If what you say is true, and she gave you her number then she was obviously attracted to you or thought you were gay. Either way it can work out. So here's a good idea, similar to Lordwafik's but a little more unique. Call her up, don't say "hi it's so and so", just start off with a story or get a light conversation going. Don't fucking show how pathetic you are trying to remind her who you are, she fucking gave you her number, she wanted you to call her. Anyway... great way to throw a girl for a loop and make her be the one to call you back, forcing her to realize it's her chasing you is to call, have a great conversation and don't setup a date or a meet. Just leave her wanting more. You said she's cute so chances are you aren't the first guy to have her number or have her interest so fucking set yourself apart from the other lame guys. By not setting up a meet she will be forced to call you back and she will naturally ease conversation into a meet. Not only will it work out to being something she might hint at wanting to do so she'll be more receptive, (but don't let her choose where to go, be a fucking man) but she'll also be forced, like I said earlier, to realize she wants you and not the other way around.

Above all though, don't be needy. Be relaxed just like wafik said and show her you aren't some needy freak who she'll regret giving her number to. Stay calm, confident and relaxed throughout your interaction and you'll be fine. And honestly, if what you say is true about her giving you her number, then you already have a decent interaction with women despite what you might think so just do whatever you did before and be natural above all else.

I froze up and I didn't know what to say. I heard the beep and I tried my best not to sound intimidated or nervous or anything. I calmly said I was the guy she met yesterday at the store, gave my name and phone number and I said I hope I get to talk to you soon.

You fucked up with that message, haha. In a case like that the better choice would have been to hangup and call again. If she didn't pick up then you'd want to leave a message but not something like what you said ideally, but it's not a big deal. If you got nervous at the machine you should have just hung up right there and calmed down. Women can spot that kind of intimidation/nervousness a mile away and that might totally switch her perception of the guy she gave her number to.
Honestly though, it's not a big deal that kind of message is normal. And again, she was interested in you and gave you her number. Also, a little tip for the future you might have called a bit too soon, it can really be good if you wait as long as you can before calling a chick back unless you've got a reason for calling her.
