If she didn't pick up then you'd want to leave a message but not something like what you said ideally, but it's not a big deal. If you got nervous at the machine you should have just hung up right there and calmed down. Women can spot that kind of intimidation/nervousness a mile away and that might totally switch her perception of the guy she gave her number to.
Honestly though, it's not a big deal that kind of message is normal. And again, she was interested in you and gave you her number. Also, a little tip for the future you might have called a bit too soon, it can really be good if you wait as long as you can before calling a chick back unless you've got a reason for calling her.
