Ok so I rewatched the Scholar Spells and the seasonal spells he uses the BLU spell animation for his arm movements o.O
I don't believe that is Karaha. Karaha was perfectly normal, highly respected, and died as a normal person. *Spoilers* What happens 20 years later in the Windurstian Storyline wouldn't have an effect on his appearance in the past. *spoilers*
Ok, I downloaded the updated Altanaview list and when I went to see the Galka dances my viewer plays the Hume F dats instead, is there a way to fix this?

Zilart: Don't know much about new content in that era, but AF would be a good example of new models
CoP: Igqira set, Bison, Barone, Homam, Nashira were all pretty complex reskins if not entirely new. Other models were mostly less obvious reskins, like Seers, Chasuble, Hachiman...
ToA: BLU COR PUP AF is a given. Sipahi, Yigit, Pahluwan and Amir were 'complexed' reskins in that you could kinda tell it was a sum of various parts kind of reskin, but not totally the same. The whole Salvage set looked kinda refreshingly different, maybe not Skadi. Nyzul gear, was mostly recoloring but used less common models to do so. Shadow Robe set = fail.
Ultimately, its not that bad to reskin or recolor but when you reskin the same ones over and over again.. it gets old fast.
This is especially true for a few certain types of armor, like the Harness, the Aketon and the Robe sets because there are so many existing variations of them already, it feels like its been dones to death.
Not a single peice of salvage gear was unique. At most they have a new flap here and there.
To fix the garbled galka:
open list\pc\galka\action.csv
scroll down to dances
change all the 192 into 195
Am i the only person who is reminded of the gummi bears when I see a taru dancing? For those of you who can't remember or aren't old enough, here's a link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRTSZZgCUik compare that with a taru dancing, surprisingly similar.
yes you were now i am going to have nightmares, or a toothache i can't decideOriginally Posted by Abel

my point is that at least if they want to make new permutations of the same flaps, they can do it something like thisOriginally Posted by Lordwafik

which is a mix and match reskin of Blu AF as well as some parts of a plate armor if im not wrong... at least they dont at all look similar...
instead of something like this

I hope you're getting my point.
some models get too much reskinning done. Some could use a few more and it wouldnt hurt.
Last time they got pointed that out they answered "ps2 limitations". Which is false, of course, as each gear file contains model and textures.Originally Posted by Spira
I love people who think they know the PS2 hardware and software inside and out to say there's no limitations on the PS2.
There's a reason its mostly reskins...because introducing new models means more for the PS2 to render, and if Whitegate alone isn't proof enough of how bad that would be, then well it's hopeless to explain. The only thing that will "ease" the limitations is dropping 56k cap, but there are sad souls who can't get higher than 56k due to geographical locations.
I love people who can't understand a simple reasoning based on the way ffxi stores models.Originally Posted by Zinnashin
As each gear model is put in the same file as its respective textures, there is no saving of resources by using the same model on another file with a new texture, even if part of the content is common, as they will be treated independently. If they really wanted to save hardware resources by re-using models, you could load models and textures independently from different files (or sections from the same file), and that is not the case in either ps2/xb/pc.
Oh, and the way that FFXI is programmed, you would have the same lag in Whitegate if everyone there was a naked taru, so what's your proof?
they should just recognize and -allow- players to change their dats coustomly and allow coustome UI. don't "Support" them but recognize them and allow them to be talked about in game without being banned lol.
Whoops, my mistake. A product of my late night copypasta'ing.Originally Posted by XingCai
Thanks for pointing that out. What he said. Or re-download the file, I fixed it.Originally Posted by Raylinn
And just like releasing DX9- compatible FFXI clients must happen, so must doing something else to upgrade the flailing client. SE needs to get with the times. Even if there are people who can't get higher than 56k.Originally Posted by Zinnashin
I do not believe there has been a completely new gear frame since CoP was released, but I could be wrong.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
