I am beyond impressed we have another Mingus fan here. Are you a fan of him in general or just that song? What about jazz in general?

There are countless Myles songs i could put here, Blue in Green and So what in particular for their nostalgic and mood setting value.

Mingus in general. The man was a genius, and his rather anarchic approach to group works appeals to me. As far as great band leaders go, even though their styles are rather far apart, I'd rate him on the same level as Frank Zappa. As for jazz, my tastes run from ridiculously cheesy 1930s swing to late '70s fusion like Zawinul's Weather Report. I'm really not that much into more recent jazz, but I have some of the Bad Plus's records, and a jazz piano trio rendition of Rush's "Tom Sawyer" is pretty badass. But anyways, about that derailing...

This one sounds really gay, but.. Fort Minor "Where'd you go" reminds me of when one of my close friends moved to Florida for about a year. She's back now though. Of course I'm in college, but I still see her at least once or twice a month.

The Format - Swans is another good one :3

The self-titled deftones album. Right before i moved all by myself to san luis obispo away from family/friends, i recall taking drives at night to that album for 2 weeks straight up until i moved away.

    Hurt by nine inch nails.

what sarah said - death cab for cute. my girlfriend cheated on me, didnt find out until late night one day. the following day, i left work early cuz it was too hard being there. i got in my car, drove around for awhile, and this song was on. i found comfort in the piano of it. every time i listen to it, it reminds of me of how i used to feel... crushed, pathetic, broken hearted... ive never cried so much....

Sixpence None the Richer - Kiss me
Reminds me of an old g/f of mine. She was a complete whore but when I hear this song it reminds me of her.

Taking back Sunday - Cute without the E

Song I was listening too when I found out my grandmother had died. Can't listen to this song anymore because of it.

    Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

The song reminds me of the summer I met my fiancee (wife soon!). The song is oversimplified and vague, just like my life was when I was 16. Not a care in the world, I could just spend hours with her doing absolutely nothing and enjoy every second of it.

It's such a cliche movie moment when we got together for the first time. I have to mention it because it's so damn corny. Tasha (the fiancee) was a good friend's sister. However, she lived with her mom pretty far away, so I had never met her (or even knew she existed for that matter). None the less, she spent the summer with her dad. We all went to a party one night and drug her along. I didn't have much attraction to her, but I flirted needlessly anyway. Threw her in a pool and got her only set of clothes soak and wet. I stripped down to my skimmies to give her my clothes. The next weekend there was quite a few of us over her dad's house just chillin. I had to work the next day, so I decided to bounce early. I only lived a couple of blocks away, so I started walking down the road. I heard the door as I got half way up the road and heard her yell at me. I ran back to the porch and kissed her. Fast forward 6 years and now we have a 7month old.

Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory (Album)

It's not really...sentimental, I guess...But it's the most influential album of my life. And every time I hear it, I think back to when I first heard it, in seventh grade, and how it completely opened the door for *all* of the music I now love.

Iced Earth - Watching Over Me
Whenever I heard this song I think of a friend who died in a drunk driving accident while I was in High School.

    <- - - Weezer's Pinkerton
It was one of the first albums I bought and the first album I began taking music seriously.
Always makes me happy to be a teen. Then when I'm older, I'm probably gonna put the disc on and remember my teen years.

If I ever need to be cheered up for any reason, I have the Transformers 80's theme song on my iPod. It never fails to make me smile and forget my troubles, even if its only for a brief moment.
