Anyone else notice the servers are functioning better?

It may just be me, so I want to be sure. Since the 11/12/07 update as I roam whitegate and do my stuff, the DBox no longer lags me out, the one NPC that roams near the fountain no longer sprints and runs at pace, NPCs don't take forever to talk to and the whole game just seems to have had a nice performance boost. Has anyone else noticed this?

I almost made a topic about this the other day as well. Now I don't R0 four times when I enter my mog house. They definitely changed something to make the lag better in Whitegate.

One thing I noticed is that there are less people online (or at least it feels like that) indeed we lost besieged again >.>

Since the update I've been experiencing weird FFXI issues...

For example, sometimes my camera will stop following me (which is kind of amusing, but requires a POL restart), or one instance of FFXI will lock up and the other will stop responding to the controller, even though I can still type in it.

Before the update, our Nashmau boat was broken... for several people in my LS, you'd step on the boat from Whitegate, get the CS departing, and then get the CS entering Nashmau instantly. I think it took about 00:10 gametime to get to Nashmau. Now it's fixed

That's not caused by SE, that's cause you use TimeStamp.
Try unloading it and getting Signet again, voilá, no delay.

Rytaal, the MH guard, and various other NPCs will happily freeze me in place for a good minute occasionally. I'm pretty sure my PS2 isn't using Timestamp. I wish it were!

I have noticed things running a bit more smoothly, even in Windurst. Haven't had the freeze thing happen since the update either, but I don't spend much time in Whitegate. Maybe I'll try to get that Skyserpent cutscene again and see if I still crash.

Rytaal, the MH guard, and various other NPCs will happily freeze me in place for a good minute occasionally. I'm pretty sure my PS2 isn't using Timestamp. I wish it were!

I keep having the popular NPCs (Sanction, MH entry, ISP coin dude) freeze me up on my PS2 as well. I've noticed that the problem is worse if they are the first NPC I talk to in the zone. It seems to be somewhat mitigated if I first talk to some worthless NPC...for example, the one who likes to inform me that beastmen regularly attack Al Zahbi (I know, I too am shocked).

I noticed my utsusemi took longer after end-of-cast to take effect.
Before was I got utsusemi effect when casting bar is at 80%
now I need o wait 0.5s after the casting bar gone to get the effect.

Anyone noticed the same problem?

My PS2 hangs as well, but it only seems like it is the Sanction guy, and after I have been doing Assaults or just ranked up doing Assaults. It's like it is accessing some kind of database to compare your rank so it'll know what you are able to buy.

The Sanction, IS coins guy, etc, all will all randomly soft or hard freeze my PS2. A hard freeze being everything stops working, a soft freeze people still move around and I can type stuff, but I can't full screen the log or move. The latter can last 1-5+ minutes by which time I just turn off my PS2 because it pisses me off and is faster anyway.

It's got jack to do with Windower plugins (unless other people using them is crashing PS2 users), and I haven't done Assault in at least 6 months, so it isn't caused by recently ranking up or some shit either.

It's most likely just normal, shitty programming.

If not getting lagged out of my Delivery Box or the mailing guy's dialogs is actually fixed though, yay.

Also on rare occassions, my screen will just black out completely which also results in me resetting the system.
