We went managed to do it first try last night but it was definitely a challenge. We had just gone 1/2 on The Price is Right with that undead dude on the floating toilet and our setup for him was:
PLD/NIN
RNG/NIN x2 (me)
BRD/WHM
SMN/WHM
WHM/SMN (shoulda been /BLM x.x)
We went in with the plan for the two RNG to kill the moblin asap. That plan worked out pretty well except that Khimaira chomped our PLD and healer almost immediately after entering. The two RNG were able to finish off the moblin and proceed to buy time with two shadowbinds (one with AF+1 gloves) and then trade hate and kite him as much as we could (draw-in made this fun).
Our PLD and WHM came unweakened and for whatever silly reason, the WHM ran in and C4'd me and died again right away lol. But now Khimaira was hitting much slower and we were pretty stable. We had the Carol and Barthundra up foro Fulmination, but it still did a shitload of damage to us the first time. We just kept shooting it down slowly as to avoid taking hate from the PLD (learned this the hard way at around 60%) until it got down pretty low and then we opened up our WS/Barrage/WS on it which brought down to 5% or so. I got chomped but reraised and we were all able to finish it off with probably about 6 minutes to spare.
We didn't have our EES up because we used them on the floating toilet guy but it all worked out. Really fun fight.
Edit: Forgot to mention that the BRD did SV Carol (and March I think?) for the PLD at the end and SV Minuets for the 2 RNG, though I kinda wanted 1 Carol / 1 Minuet. Also forgot to mention that the SMN was using avatars to buy nice chunks of time while we had to recover as well since they tended to take hate pretty easily.
Did your headbutt land? lol In any case, in the line you quoted I was saying both resisted stun from BLM on our first run. In the run you came with us for we killed Moblin anyway, so I guess I didn't notice or don't remember if it landed or not, I'll take your word for itOriginally Posted by VZX

Went in with thief (me) war, rdm, brd, blm. I stayed on khim, rest killed the moblin.I solod khim so not many tp moves went off and I was able to evasion tank him fairly easily.
I really don't see why you should treat it any differently than you would the normal Khimaira. Fight it like normal until 25%, and then don't let it WS after that point. Easy as pie. <_<
ESPECIALLY if you've got a SMN, then you have no excuse, lol.
I found it easy =/ One it once with 5 people, then won it again for our DRK that missed it the first time. MNK MNK RDM WHM SMN DRK. We killed the gob at start, had the SMN use dream shroud, I used barthundra fully merited and Shellra V fully merited. MNK's tanked it like normal, he died fast. Fulmination wasn't really a problem, me the RDM and the SMN just threw Curaga II.
rdm rdm nin nin brd smn won this super easy. One nin voked khim while everyone else killed the moblin, then just fight khim like he was a normal mob. 25% and under everyone was prepared for fulm but he didnt use it until 3%, and by then it was too late for him to make a comeback.
Now The Price is Right....5 tries to win that crappy assault. </3 King Goldemar.
Beat it twice, killed the Moblin both times. First time was pretty easy until the last 5% or so he Fulm'd 2x and killed our NIN. I ended up MS Rampaging him to death though.
The second time was harder, we wiped once due to fulm spam and tried again and wiped again but Khim died to dot a few moments after... lol..
Fulm has huge range too, just need to be kinda lucky and have less melee. Neither are stunnable in my experiences but all three times we killed the Moblin asap. BLM and SMN both do solid damage from what I know and as long as you don't feed him TP, you shouldn't have to worry about Fulm going off too much.
We wiped once (whm dc and bad fulmination), reraised and killed it. Second time we beat it, we killed goblin and fought it normally. Lot of fulmination went off every time.
Trick is to keep someone outside aoe range with paralyze, and cure healer asap. Turn around until you recover to not give additional tp.

Those 3 things are probably my biggest petpeeves in game. So many people just stand there and die like idiot when it could be avoided.
did this just last night, as others posted before me, do not kill the moblin...he has low acc, and doesnt hit hard to begin with. im a mnk/nin and i did about 35% damage to the mob, than just disengaged and blink tanked until khim died, moblin warps out after that

I did this killing the moblin too. We did get Fulminationed but I don't think we got much more then 2 or 3 and thankfully not back to back. We did get nice breathers inbetween because we were pretty mage heavy with NIN PLD BRD WHM BLM BLM.
I did it PLD, RDM, BRD, SMNx3. Killed the Moblin. It did maybe 4 tp moves the whole fight and that was only from the PLD getting bored and engaging at the end. lvl70 tpless Blood Pacts ftw.
Im 2/3 in Khim assault and dont really find it the hardest one, the funest (and at the same time awesome bit) was the second win where Khim took down the Pld and a sam tanked Khim almost from 90% to around 20% with no problems, (seigan) can be really powerful in the right hands
Ah both times we killed the gob.
I found Hydra and Goldemar (sp?) harder and im still lacking Cerberus 0/2.
Easy Assault if your melees have high HP to deal with being hit after Fulmination until everyone's functional again.
We did it easily as PLD/NIN, MNK/NIN, MNK/NIN, WHM RDM BRD. With 1600-1800 HP, Fulm only takes you down to about 1k, which lasts long enough to get Paralyze off and cure people up again.

This is blatantly false. If you're within (almost all) mobs melee range when you pull hate, simply running away (without +movement speed) will not prevent it from hitting you. Kiting around an object can work, depending on the pathing of the mob. Obviously anything that casts spells can be more easily kited, and andthing that moves faster than you or has draw in (which the Khimaira does) is going to be very tough to kite.
We went with a moblin strategy on all three of our attempts. Lost the first one at about 45%, because our white mage had no macros and thought that stona meant haste. Dead tank, dead everyone else, etc.
Effectively lost the second one at 98%, because as we killed the goblin he did two dice rolls; both were an 8, so both caused Fulmination. The poor positioning of all the corpses meant recovering took too long, so we ran out of time.
Finally won the third one as... pld/nin war/sam sam/thf rdm whm brd, iirc.
I was sam/thf, and avoided giving it TP as much as possible. Stuck to mostly just TA WS on the pld/nin, except at the end, when I attempted to two hour only to have it Tenebrous Mist us...
Sure it is. The difference is that PCs experience a slight lag time when getting data from the server, so when we think we're right behind the mob, we're actually just out of range. Running just ahead of the mob in the direction it's going will solve this.Originally Posted by jibini

Fulm won't wipe the group in a single shot...when its "crunch time" just have a bard or someone sub whm stand > 30 distance, if fulm gets off quickly paralyna the RDM or WHM who will cure the tank etc. etc.
When the bard needs to sing turn backs to minimize any tp gain...rinse repeat, really not hard >.> Cerb was biggest pain in the ass imho of the last tier
we used SAM/THF WAR/NIN PLD/NIN WHM BRD RDM for all of them, so the mobs got a decent amount of TP
