    The Crabtastic Experiment

I've had moderate success with crabs in the past, but fell in love with thier HP as MNK's its crazy high (and i love the crabby victory dance!). So i dropped some pets i have given up on and brought in a new group of crabs, going to try some varient things on them and see how it goes.

The StoneCrab is well, set in stone really, but like, i would appreciate opinions about which build to follow up on with Crab#2, A-B-C?

Wow you got a winner with the first one. :3

As for the second one.. I think the 3rd one might be best. Crabs arn't the greatest at dmg and on a mnk, having enspells is a big boost of damage.

I about pissed my pants when i got the vit+25/auto-regen guy from a vit+25 plate (was expecting crap). But yea he made me happy. I dunno i may make a third crab just so i can run both plan B and C.

    Re: The Crabtastic Experiment

Again, the only problem I have with crabs is low damage output. Having petrify/blink adds to its survivability but as a crab (and with vit/regen) it doesn't seem like it needs it, but I don't know.

    Re: The Crabtastic Experiment

from the one time i saw enpetrify in action, the mob did double dmg (like with ensleep) for every hit landed while the mob was petrified. so I'm hoping that enpetrify will act like a dmg booster as well as giving auto-regen a chance to top him off. only time will tell i guess.

[EDIT] my last crab was an ensleep mnk crab with a decent def build, he took the full 3min to kill another def mob, but didnt have too much problems killing.

    Re: The Crabtastic Experiment

I've never seen petrify do double damage. We used to have a chigoe champ with enpetrify who kept title for a while and all the hits seemed to do the same damage.

If you can kill during the 3 min then you should be fine. Enpetrfy is great for staying alive since you just stop the other mob for a while.

when i get a chance to get petrify leveled up i'll comment on the double dmg thing, it was a ram that did it, its dmg went from low hundreds to mid 200s =/

    Re: The Crabtastic Experiment

Petrify isn't double damage, Rams have a very unstable damage range. I have enpetrify crab, he's fun, but MNK crab without either dispel or attack bonuses will hit for 0s on anything with 1-2 types of defense bonus.

    Re: The Crabtastic Experiment

I decided to run the petricrab for now and plan C crab, but i was thinking...

Can crabs sub /SAM, does any one know? and if they can wouldnt zanshin be better than double attack for the run in with evasion mobs, since its procs an additional attack in responce to a wiff occasionally? so guess the question is MNK/SAM (if possible) or MNK/WAR, tried to sub /sam on my wyvern they cant be SAM. Re: The Crabtastic Experiment

my crab with enpetrify is lv15, his normal hits right now are for 25dmg, after petrify lands they jump to 45, so it is double dmg from what i can tell, perhaps since chigeo dmg is so irregular thats why you never noticed, pluss the tend to proc effect almost 100% the time with thier attack speed.

    Re: The Crabtastic Experiment

Eyeing it and thinking because two hits after petrify did more damage that makes enpetrify double damage is just spreading misinformation. Any mob without att/str bonuses is going to have a wide range of possible numbers, especially the ones that do high base damage such as a ram.
Sleep is double damage in Pankration as a rule, this can be seen and qualified every time a mob is put to sleep and then hit.
Petrify is not double damage and this can be seen and qualified by observing that not every hit after the opponent is petrified is more damage than the previous hits until the mob is no longer petrified. If it were double damage like sleep it would be a rule like sleep.

Crabs can't get Damage Resistance Bonus as an innate right? Only Defense Bonus?

I'm pretty sure mine has it as innate. Not 100% though. >.>

Everything can get Damage Resistance Bonus innate, if the mob doesn't catch it on plates it's simply the rarer.

Probably on the same page as auto-regen/refresh/regain? While going for bunnies/bees en masse, I saw both of them get it, but only like once. Pretty rare stuff. Also not sure how useful it actually is. >.>
