It was just a tazer. It's not like they shot him. Although the end result might have been the same, they still used much less force than had they gone overboard and actually shot at him.

Why was he being held there for 10 hours? I guess you can understand a little why he was so irate. It is true though that he seemed to cool down just a little bit when the cops showed up. He stopped throwing the furniture around and seemed only to be pacing angrily. Obviously we don't have all the details, but unless the guy had a weapon of some sort, I don't see why he needed to be tazered. Four grown men could have easily knocked him down and cuffed him.
