You can't really say the Zilart brothers could've beaten SL themselves. Even ignoring the questionable rubric of comparing the difficulty of ZMs vs Fiat Lux, if they could then why didn't they in Lilith's timeline?

Neither star Sybil nor tzee Xicu are gods
Star Sybil is windys spiritual leader whose only divine power came from moon/star readings but she's been incapable of them since the crystal war due to various circumstances.
Tzee Xicu calls herself a god and yagudo believe she is divine incarnate and thus the leader of their kind. Think of her as the dalai lama of the yagudo. She does not possess any extraordinary powers.. Apart from an unproven vocal range of the gods. The current tzee xicu is also not likely the original one but an imposter that assumed her role to rally the yagudo again
No on both accounts. The Star Sibyl gets her ability to prophetize from Fenrir. (And thusly the Moon Readings over the last 20 years have been off because she has been improvising.) Tzee Xicu is not a god either, just a very powerful Summoner. She can fly? Zonpa-Zippa used the forbidden "Levitate" magic on some early versions of Cardians, so it isn't impossible. She was on par with Fenrir Prime, but only after it was weakened and confused by consuming both Summoners. She is just abnormally powerful, like Doctor Shantotto or Ajido-Marujido.
The part where Lehko Habhoka asked you "Have you ever fought a god" was pretty funny when you think about what we do as adventurers. How many gods have we fought? At that point in the game we have fought: Ifrit, Shiva, Garuda, Titan, Ramuh, Levithan, Genbu, Sieryu, Suzake, Byakko, Kirin, Fenrir, Diabolos, Promathia, Bahamut, Carbuncle, Odin, Alexander, Dark Ixion, Cait Sith Ceithir, and Atomos. That is 21 gods. (Or 20 since Dark Ixion may or may not be an Avatar/God. But it has the glow damn it!) So yeah, fought a few gods before.
The weakened version in 5-2 they could house for sure. The Fiat Lux version would be harder, but they would be able to pull it off easily with the Crystal Warriors. As for why they didn't in Lilith's world? Maybe they are afraid of drawing Odin's attention or maybe it doesn't matter to them. They aren't going to get killed, why would they care if the humans do? Or maybe they don't know that he is the source of the noise there so they haven't bothered.
Or maybe the storyline for Lilith's world wasn't very well thought out considering that they were preparing the First Ship to carpet bomb Castle Zvahl into rubble but the war ended before they had the chance to do it.
We could always just completely make up reasons as to why the waited!
Maybe they spent the last 20 years thinking if they should really open the gates of paradise. When they originally wanted the gates open, there was a whole race of Zilart, but now there's only a handful. They could be in paradise, but be relatively alone and be in a world where they become the weak, powerless, waste of space creatures, or, maybe they were contemplating not opening the gates and rule over Vanadiel as the supreme beings.
20 years later they got sick of all the lesser races bickering and problems and decided to destroy them all.
Even if they knew the Shadow Lord in Lilith's reality was the source of the noise, they'd be pretty powerless to stop him given he has control of all the major continents in Vana'diel and so whatever plans they had would be permanently shelved. Also, who knows of the state of Tu'Lia in that dimension? I always found it strange that no one noticed a floating island hovering above Qufim. If I were an Odin-fueled galka the size of an office building I'd have that thing blown out of the sky. Who needs ancient ruins? You should be busy fearing me.
Lilith also claimed she had even more powerful pawns in her resistance force so perhaps the Archdukes are apart of that.
Speaking of Tu'lia, is it not strange no one has noticed this island on Vana'diel in an era of peace and airships? Windurst has telescopes and Bastok has early industrial-era technology yet no one noticed a floating island hovering over Delkfutt's tower? Even if it was inactive until the events of RoTZ you'd think some researchers would have you know.. tried to fly there.
Tu'lia is over Ro'Meave, not Qufim.
Your argument still somewhat stands though, it's just a little easier to understand how they could miss it.
All airships are owned by the Dutchy I believe, so they are probably on strict orders to steer clear of Zitah, and I could see how the trees could obscure the vision from Windurst's telescopes.
They are fay dandy fops. They would rather sit around being blase and combing their blonde hair than go out to the cold northlands and fight some undead dude. Why should they? They're the damn ruler of Jueno, pissants like you should be doing that stuff.
It's also entirely possible that the Zilart aren't quite as powerful as they're made out to be. The Ark Angels themselves are considered demigod warriors by the Zilart and they themselves aren't THAT powerful. And technically BC Eald'narche only has 4500 HP which isn't that much higher than a PLD probably (tho BC HP has always been scaled down for time/difficulty).. Esha'ntarl doesnt seem to exhibit (any) special powers at all. So their power does have its limits.
As for tulia I think it's really high in the sky... Like you can't see the earth from Tulia do it's probably way up in the atmosphere, above the clouds, obscuring it from even airship view
The Zilart aren't gods, they're probably all 5 races combined into one with the appearance of humes exhibited by their amazingly strong abilities, though they arent gods really.
I know the Star Sbyl is the spiritual leader but I see a lot of NPCs calling her "The Dawn Goddess Reincarnate". Not sure if that's just what the people call her or if it's what she said. Kind of like the whole thing with the Jews calling Yeshua "The King of the Jews", which pissed him off because it was drawing the anger of Pontious Pilate and it was the people's words, not his own self declaration, etc.
things and people can float and cast magic, run around volcanoes, wear subligar to icelands.. so physics has always been out of the window.
Yea, kind of hard to argue the logic of a world where people can falls from high places and not get hurt, yet they refuse to walk over a small ledge.
I recently re-watched the WotG trailer and I noticed that we still haven't see the CS' surrounding 1:08 (Zeid & Volker storming Castle Z), 1:38 (Pact between the 4 nation's leaders), & 1:47 (Zazarg & his personal guardsmen).
I wonder if they still plan to touch upon this content or if was all just meant to be hype? It would be interesting to see how these events pan out in the WotG timeline/reality.
The link with Zeid and Volker, is not as it is. But it is for the final boss of the Bastok Quest line
After I don't know how many years, I finally finished WoTG.. It was weird because it's like you hit a certain point in that storyline and just want to keep going to see how it ends. Of all the story lines, I would argue it was the most "emotional" and, touching on some of the comments read here, I thought the main character (*us* in the story) was for more proactive and the driving force behind a lot of the actions in the end (as opposed to being swept along in a "Deus ex Machina" style). I thought it was actually pretty well done (with the CS' and improvements over original content) but that's just me.
My impression was that it was no accident "we" got sucked into the maw (Altana's will) as we are supposed to be like superheroes or something.. It would have been nice to hear a little "you saved us from the Shadowlord again, saved us from Promathia ending the world and possibly a new dark age from Odin so you're my guy" dialogue from Altana via Caitsith or something, but whatever. In the grand scheme of things, I think Altana matters a lot more than is generally assumed in the so called pantheon in FFXI but maybe I am looking for something that isn't there.
Anyway, that of course raised a few questions for me that I can't remember if they were resolved in the storyline itself. First, how/why does Lilisette end up in the past in the first place? Was that her decision or by accident?
Also, while we know who Spitewarden-Lazaros is, I was wondering if the other two (the Elvaan and hume) are ever identified in "our" world like Lazaros is. Just curious. Thanks in advance.
I think she, like us, has the ability to travel through the maws. (And for some reason our Adventuring Fellows, wtf?) I mean I'm guessing people can just climb in the maws and go back in time... Zogbog does it, our Fellows do it, the Excenmille gang does it, etc. Her specific reason for being in the past is her wanting to prevent Ragelise's mystical magical dark magic wound he receives at the battle of Jeuno that eventually kills him, cuz she loves her daddy or some sappy shit.
It is never explicitly stated who Aquila and Haudrale are, if these names are different, or what have you. I imagine (hope) we will see them eventually... I originally thought they might be Lucius / Halver but after meeting Lazros I think they're probably just some schmuks. For all we known they could only exist within Lilith's world as well, or potentially born after our time? (After all, Lilith IS Lilisette [[oh god spoilers]] and Lilith is quite older than our Lilisette, so Lilith's "present" must be further than our "present" but fucking time travel.)Also, while we know who Spitewarden-Lazaros is, I was wondering if the other two (the Elvaan and hume) are ever identified in "our" world like Lazaros is. Just curious. Thanks in advance.
Rocl I can always count on you!
Also, good fucking memory!
