We've already fought gargouilles in SoA's missions though. I forget the exact CS text, but didn't the tiger say the Naakuals kept them sealed away, but their power was waning? I mean, it could just be a convenient hellish enemy to add to his ranks, or it could certainly be the case that they wanted there to be some other winged beast demonic enemy but ran out of time/resources to add it. But there's definitely already been gargouilles used, no reason to think that's not what's shown in the image.

Thinking on it a bit more too, there was a recent-ish quest added about an exorcist that killed a Dullahan, and the quest giver was baffled how. After doing it all, turned out he had just killed an Ahriman in Yorcia. Apparently, that was more mundane than killing a Dullahan, but...why was an Ahriman in Yorcia? lol

Dont compare the Valhalla from real myth in our world with Odin in FFXI. The avatars might be named after goddess/myth from our world, but they definitly dont follow the same pattern/rule/behaviour.
But peon mentions he hails from Valhalla in einherjar I believe. He doesn't even call vanadiel, vanadiel. He refers to the planet as an Emerald Isle, so makes it seem like he's from another dimensions whereas all other avatars are normal and dont speak weird and dont have thralls/minions

yeah they do all speak unusually. I think carbuncle is the only one that doesn't. also, what's unique about his situation is that his protocrystal shattered, the other avatars (if I'm remembering the SMN AF quests, Waking the Beast, etc correctly) are all trying to do the same shit Odin and Alexander did to be awakened, just less successfully. alexander had his protocrystal shattered too (I think) but he and Odin fought, Odin destroyed his physical form, so he's left fairly ineffectual.

it'd make more sense to assume that the "emerald isle" he's referring to is azouph.

also, Luzaf specifically calls him "the Dark Divinity" and I think he'd know. he also calls him Lord of the Underworld but I'm fine with SE ignoring that for the sake of this not being another expansion centered around Odin

There's not really any evidence to suggest that Hades and Demons are linked. The only demons we've yet encountered in Adoulin are those couple of gargouilles, and those weren't even likely linked to Hades at all; Hades' "army" is comprised of almost entirely Arcana and Elementals (which are just a subspecies of Arcana anyway). May also include Undead if the fomor, hounds, and skeletons in Ra'Kaznar serve him as well.

Also, Fenrir speaks normally too. As does Bahamut, for the most part. Terrestrial avatars may be more "normal" or something.

Doesn't make sense they'd hail from odin's realm of Valhalla since that's a realm of noble/brave warriors. I don't even ever think it was stated that Odin was "evil" he is aligned with dark element but he isn't really an "elemental avatar" he isn't shrouded with dark energy or shoot dark beams/clouds really. Even his 2hr is physical/non-elemental. I wonder if Hades is the real avatar of darkness.
It's important to note that the Demons may have some code of nobility and are certainly brave warriors. Count Bifrons revived Schultz due to his deep respect for him and his desire for a ingenious opponent.

I would have to double check that cutscene, but I think he contrasts their current gargouille form with the greater form they held in the past.

Also, Odin's power is almost entirely revolved around shadow and darkness. How do you think he brands his champions and servants? The Shadow Lord (Raogrimm), Ringaling, and Portia are all seen as touched by shadowy imprints and shrouds of dark looking miasma in most of the cutscenes that they appear in post-Odin pact. Luzaf, too. It's so strong that it was able to completely alter Raogrimm's form into what we know as the Shadow Lord. Demons could just be manifestations of souls given to or taken by Odin, but who knows. We know so little about them other than their basic ranking structure and some details about their honorific personalities. There isn't even much to say that they're inherently evil.

Aren't Dullahans undead? The library classifies them as such, though I've never fought them on anything that would have the respective killer trait to test.

Almost certain I've seen DRK's sigil land on them, but I may be misremembering. They could fit either ecosystem.

Still the question of Twithryms and the large ones that I forget their name, which are only found in Ra'kaznar. Skirmish feet bare their symbol, they're present in every SoA zone, and they have some sort of semblance to Skirmish (to the underworld?) with their wings being a commodity of the areas, as well as them swarming the entrances.

Minor bump that might give us an idea about the other names of August's guardians. At the conclusion of the Geo Ergon quest, it was revealed that the ancient Geomancer you were getting flash backs from was Rala Renaye, one of August's guardians. That gives us Morimar and Rala now, so the other zone's names are very likely connected to his troupe.

I know Damane finished the Run Ergon, maybe he could shed some light on what the name of it's NPC was.

In a post by Spira a couple months back, he mentioned that another of August's retainers was Yahse Karieyh. I'm fairly certain I was caught up on all missions and quests at that point, but I don't recall Yahse's name being mentioned. Did I maybe miss some NPC dialogue somewhere?

Also gonna go out on a not-so-far limb here and guess one of them will be an Elvaan named Hennetiel Thurandaut.

I have a question in regards to CoP: by the time we encounter Promathia in the Empyreal Paradox, is it already falling towards Vanadiel? Selh'teus comments after the battle that Al'Taieu stopped plummeting towards Vana'diel since they defeated Promathia, but the Taru siblings say that it will fall once Promathia breaks the the last crystal.

From what I understand, the Empyreal Paradox is connected to the castle in Al'Taieu so it should be falling down along with the rest of it, so am I right to think that?

Marjami (blonde hume f2) is the legendary RUN the ergon weapon quest of RUN evolves around. She was fighting together with Cirdas and oh god the 3. one was hennetiel I believe

for what its worth maybe for future ergon weapons. Hennetiel was sporting a Lance and Cirdas an axe i believe, but I would need to go recheck at some goby point.

apearantly Marjamis legendary weapon coupled with her legendary WS Dimmidation shook the grounds of Marjami and created a large rift there (or so), according to flashbacks dimmidation is the fusion of all 8 elementals together.

    so far we have:
    Augustine
    Morimar
    Yahse
    Marjami
    Hennetiel
    Cirdas

Rala (think was mentioned somewhere too)
Ceizak (was mentioned in missions i believe not sure)
    Yorcia
    Kamihr
    Dho
    Woh
    Sih
    Moh

there is one name too much on it. Augustine traveled with 12 companions. again have to recheck on the run mythic quest CS again. dho woh sih and moh gates might either be a group of siblings, or directions for West south north east in another language, leaving then 3 names unknown

Aren't all the gates' people the original geomancer's companions?

Zoldeff could be one, it's the river in Hennetiel and sounds very galkish!

Other possibilities um..Celennia and Senroh(very mithra).

Of course there can be other places to visit yet, but these would count for 13!

Celennia has a last name already (Wexworth) and wasn't one of August's companions

There's a lot of references to Rune/Runics in ToAU, I wonder if they're the same as Rune Fencer/SoA runes. I wonder if they shared technology or have the same common ancestor.

i believe so. it was always slowly plummeting because the light of Al'Taieu had already been drained.

Would be a fun plot twist if all some or all of naakuals were originally August's companions that were turned into Naakuals and were tasked with protecting the forest. Brave Fencer Musasi crest guardians!
