That bell looks like the one that gets used in the Geomancer quests, which hints even more that Siren was originally supposed to be something Adoulin-related but then got scrapped for some reason.

Definitely not an avatar, although I know the english mission title for her is The Lost Avatar, japanese mission is Stray Holy Beast, where Holy Beast is 聖獣 and not at all what they call avatars in japanese, which is 召喚獣 and 霊獣 for Carbuncle and the like. She could be though, but weird wording, then again I have zero faith in the translators for english.

I'm hyped for the story; it is an awesome start story wise albeit too short.
I believe Matsui said, when they started the story the team in charge of it didn't knew it was to end the game and the only thing they knew is that they had to have all heroine into it.

RoV dangled a bunch of carrots in front of us before swiftly pulling them away in just this first part... "oh yeah you totally go to the far east, that place I'm from, but not for a looong time..." "hey, I'm siren, an avatar-like thing and I'm going to all but make a pact with you, but you can't summon me!" I feel like there was something else and I've just forgotten it, but oh well. I'm 90% sure the "new" zone we'll get in November is going to be that tiny island with the shrine from the CS.

Rhapsodies Mission 12: Fate Call description:

Mission Orders: Lion has seen another vision. The orb you have received must be filled with sufficient light to stop the encroaching darkness. Vanquish the Shadow Lord before the reckoning comes. If you have already done so, report to Gilgamesh in Norg.

I assume if you havent beaten shadowlord you cant get pass this part of rhapsodies. Need to start a new character to see if this is so. In the future I assume you need to beat each expansion to get past certain part of rhapsodies.

i thought the WotG plot twist was pretty novel too. it also put across a different type of conflict - where it becomes really hard to define who is right and wrong when it isn't a question of "good and evil". Lilith's realm was the real future - and even though in reality it sucked, it had more right simply because of that. Ultimately when they realise it isn't really a conflict to begin with, Lilisette opts to live and let live.

Which only occurs because Atomos decides to let the universes exist in parallel. The entire tension of WOTG involved what we assumed - that only one world could come to exist - with the Crystal War events deciding that. Which is the whole reason Lilith is 'bad'.

Well, that and her rightful fury that Altana kinda said 'fuck that' to their universe.

Funny that immediately after, another parallel universe pops up with nary a hitch.

She's an avatar (almost certainly terrestrial), but clearly co-opted by the agent of the Void until we beat her up enough to break it. Note that Zeid recognizes her for what she is. The bell is clearly something harkening back to the lifestream (ala Geomancy), and I'd even speculate that the first Geomancers might have gotten their lessons from Siren, considering the blessing she puts on you at the end of the fight.

See above. Some of what we're seeing reminds me of Hades and his desire to remove all life from the mortal realm.

I think the restrictions of what we assume an avatar to be were bent once they introduced Atomos and Cait Sith. If you've played FFXIV, it's similar to the discussion you have in the CSs after fighting the King Moogle and Shiva in regards to Primals being a broader group than you previously thought.

It's not the problem that alternate universes exist in addition to the main/original one that bothered me.
It's the fact that MINE was NOT the original one.

Because none of ours can be the original. That is the hitch with a FF game like this, there isn't 1 singular main character to make it the main universe. I slayed the Shadow Lord, banished the emptiness, etc. and so forth in my universe. In yours, I just take up space not being the Warrior of Light.

Yeah, it's his same model from the WotG bastok quests and also abyssea-grauberg. All his pt chat is less emo too which is pretty funny.

the II versions of the Trusts have different models so u can kinda differentiate them.
Lion's dagger is different iirc, and she glows.

Aldo [UC] wields different daggers too. probably just a style choice.

Siren is part of the GEO backstory thats for sure. its probably the same one

So since we pretty much know who futurechick's dad is, do you think her mother is also a known character? I'm trying to think of a relevant hume female in CoP, but I'm drawing a blank. Can Zilarts/Kuluu interbreed with the 5 races...?

Also, what hairstyle was the evil hume that kidnapped Palometa in the fellow NPC quest line again? The phantom of the opera dude reminds me of him with his show up out of nowhere, so dark, so so dark, loves the dark, oh so dark, yeah dark! kinda attitude

Also am I the only one who feels like the whole storyline sounds kind of like a filled metaphor of what happened to XI? Like the chick from future comes to warn you that it's all gonna end, QQ, but then bad shit uses the portal and the end is coming sooner than it should! I read that a lot like "we (the dev team) knew XI was gonna die, but the bad, dark corporate emptiness made it happen sooner than we wanted to"

Whats up with the Ark Angels/Crystal Warriors? Are they Zilart? Guardians of Paradise/Ru'Lude? Are they truly just Evil/"The Warriors of Darkness" type deal? Its been far too long since I've done that and I don't remember much of it.
