    Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend this year. I was able to attend last year, however, and volunteered to help out. Every volunteer, myself included, were given black shirts with the letters "EVENT STAFF" on the back. Basically, what I'm saying is that it could have just been some random zammer volunteer or what have you yanking your chain.

    I think the best way to dig deeper would be to find out exactly who it was you asked the questions to. Take his picture if you must >_> Restating the information you recieved in question form tomorrow at the developer panel could also prove useful. "Does killing non-notorious aern, phaubo, hpemde monsters as well as yovra monsters have an effect on the two hour abilities Absolute Virtue has access to or the frequency that it can use them?" or something along those lines.

    Its a reasonable question to ask.

    1) Do I have this guys name? Yes I do, however the agreement was made that his name would not be released in connection with this story until the dev team officially discusses it. I have to respect that.

    2) Was there a shirt color coding scheme for different staff members? The black shirts are official, paid, employees of Square Enix, the Green shirts are the mercenaries who they hired before the start of the show.

    3) I did have a camera, didn’t film it.

    When I made the first post I made sure to include my source, and explain his ranking. Yes, it could be incorrect information, this I disclosed it was a informal, interview with a non-dev team member. However it makes more sense then "smack it with sea weapons on the right elemental day" and "you have to touch the ebony panels at the same time!" I hope this helps.

    Except that we already got the tip from SE to weaken AV via the mobs near around him a couple months back and it hasn't helped anyone kill it yet.

    If your talking about killing off JOL's summons to stop his auto-regen. Yes, that was given a few months back, and no it doesnt really help. This deals with his 2 hours. If this was released a few months ago, sorry, I didn't see it.

    I'm talking about killing aerns and nearby mobs to lock his 2hours.

    I think the clue was the "common monsters" part and NOT the "Aern, for example" part. There aren't a lot of Yovra in the zone. Could be that they control the 2H's -- positionally rather than by job as folks are assuming for Aerns. It would be feasible to slay all the Yovra.

    I really didn’t want to start giving my input on this, because I didn’t want it to be confused with what was said by the SE people. However I got the impression that killing a single monster that represented a job, IE a White Mage Aern, would lock Benediction.

    As I understand it, every one of the sea monsters represents one job, with Aern having the remaining 10.

    Aern:

    Thief
    Ninja
    White Mage
    Dark Knight
    Bard
    Red Mage
    Dragoon
    Beastmaster
    Summoner
    Ranger
    Paladin* (Jailer Only)


    Hpemde:

    Warrior

    Phuabo:

    Monk

    Xzomit:

    Samurai

    Yovra:

    Black Mage

    There is a 10-15 second delay before AV spawns, I think it’s fair to say that the system is checking to see what two hours / regen rate it needs to load for the coming fight. To make it a fair test, someone should pick an Aern kill it just before JOL dies (3-5%), make a note of the job, and see if AV can use that two hour if he spawns.

    I really do think it's that easy

    Hmm, that might be a good idea, since there are 15 Yovra spawns to match up with the 15 jobs

    Ul'yovra - 2 spawns
    Om'yorva - 13 spawns

    Hmm, that might be a good idea, since there are 15 Yovra spawns to match up with the 15 jobs

    Ul'yovra - 2 spawns
    Om'yorva - 13 spawns
    I may be mistaken, but i think Northern Al'Taieu was added after AV, and many Om'yovras reside there.

    Let's think about something here.

    SE revealed that AV's Regen is stopped by killing the pets from Love and using the corresponding Elemental Magic on the right day.

    Lunarians stopped the two hours by AV by killing all sets of Wynavs before AV reached 95% HP. I have read where other LSes have tried that and it has not worked for them.

    Now, SE states that you'd have to kill the surrounding enemies around AV.

    Could the following work, then?
    1.) Kill Jailer of Love as you normally would.
    • -> Kill all pets before Love is killed. Probably within the last 5 to 10% kill the last group of pets.
      -> Use the correct Elemental magic corresponding to their correct days.


    2.) At 5 to 10% of Love's HP, have another party outside the alliance kill the Om'Aerns near Love.

    3.) If and when AV does pop, pull it to an isolated location. Do the following:
    • -> Create one kite party and/or one tank party with healers in each.
      -> Create an outside party or alliance with BLMs.
      -> Do the same for Melees.


    4.) Have the outside party pull hate on the Wynavs and have the BLM party manaburn them. Use the kite or tank party to pull AV away.

    5.) Have the melee party attack the Aerns in the immediate vicinity of AV. Looking at the list of the variety of Aerns out near AV, I would assume SE is stating those near it. These would mostly be Om'Aerns with various jobs.

    6. As soon as the immediate area is cleared, kill AV either straight-tanking or kiting ala King Behemoth style. Stick to the area that is cleared around AV. Keep one set of BLMs on the ready to nuke the Wynavs and another set for Magic Bursts. Create an alliance between the Tank, BLM and Melee Parties.

    Will that work? Or, would an LS like to try?

    I don't think SE would be too cruel to ask players to kill the Phaubos and everything else near AV. I would just assume the Aerns (most notably the Om'Aerns) in AV's immediate area where you'll fight it.

    After they give us this "enfeeble" item and have a chance to ninja patch it so it's beatable? lol IDGAF if they can beat it in a few months, and just show an edited video of what they want you to see. Live fight in front of an audience who can verify what they're doing is possible by us or it didn't happen.

    Thats about right ....


    They also said .. and I Quote "We have no plans on weakening AV, he was designed to be the hardest monster in the game, (but not impossible) and we desire to keep him that way. " (FanFest-Sat-Dev Panel) I serious doubt there will be an enfeeble item after that statement.

    However the overtime part is actually true, having worked on a game design team, its always 36 hour days until the release. Most of the guys just slept over to save time driving to and from work. It was hell and giving people a break is fine with me, AV isn't going anyplace.

    What they mean is, they can't themselves kill AV and so they need a couple of months to weaken it then kill it. The item's he drops are quite nice, why would u give them away so easily?
