Dead CPU?
OK they other day i ordered new PSU Mobo RAM Vid card because my dad fried everything else in my old setup like a nob. I did not buy a new processor cause i didnt think those could git fried by mobos and what not. Well all my new stuff came in hooked it all up and i go to turn it on. Press the power button and all the fans jump but no lights no beeps no spinning of the HDD. Fans jump for a split second and then there's silence. SOund like a dead CPU or DoA mobo? Ive no way of telling if my CPU is alive or dead other than what i just said. thanks.

Re: Dead CPU?
Might want to check your PSU. Maybe put it in a different computer, or try a different PSU in the new setup.

Re: Dead CPU?
ok is wapped PSU with my bros his is a 350w 24pin PSU and mines a 400w 24pin and his didn't even make my fans jump all it did when i hooked it up to my crap is make a weird high pitched noise then die out. However hooking my PSU to bros yielded success. So my PSU isn't dead. Is there enough power?
New stuff i bought.
dd2 800 ram
8600 GTS gfx 512
MSI G31M mobo
E4300 allendale 1.8ghz (possibly dead)

Re: Dead CPU?
mobo reccommends a 350w+ PSU so 400w is enough

Re: Dead CPU?
By chance did you forget to plug in the supplementary power plug into the graphics card? they like to make a high pitched hum when they don't have it plugged in

Re: Dead CPU?
there is also a 2nd motherboard power connector either 4 or 8 pin depending on the model either that or the videocard connector would be my guess
