I think the idea is the DNC can throw Drain Samba II on the mob, and then each time the Dancer hits the mob, it gives a little HP to everyone. Not each time other people hit it. I could be wrong though - I'm not at Fanfest.Originally Posted by tyven

Hold it! /points finger
In the youtube vid of dancer self-SCing, we clearly see that when the two scholars come up and whack the ladybug with their staves, the drain goes off when they strike, independent of the dancer's own knife strikes. It looks the same as blood weapon or bloody bolts -- when the individual hits, the effect goes off.
I'm glad it works this way, because otherwise every dancer would be "gimp" without m.kris.

So...can someone verify that it was DNC/NIN or do Dancer's get dual wield? I wouldn't have any problem with DNC having DW considering their abilities use TP. Regardless, I hope DNC gets access to a multihit weapon (or two, come on KC!) or we're gonna see a lot of DNC/NIN and DNC/SAM.
It was DNC/NIN.Originally Posted by Ish

Exactly -- SE didn't design nin to be the end-all of subjobs; the players exploited the hell out of it and christened /nin as their new bronze God. Would you rather SE eliminate ninja altogether so you no longer feel the urge to "lol/nin" anymore?
I know I wouldn't mind, personally.![]()
personally i don't see dancer ever pulling the top dd numbers in a party. it looks like their roles(they have many) all gather around the quick collection of TP. /sam looks like the subjob of choice endgame when you can't melee spam the target, and /nin with low delay daggers for exp to build tp faster sacrificing damage for the ability to spam buffs and debuffs, wearing acc over atk.
then again, i'm not a melee and don't know daggers all that well. any really good ones with low delay and higher atk?
It's obvious Dancer won't be a top DD - It's like a bard, but with more versatility per mob, and less versatility overall. Plus doing a little damage on the front line and some healing.Originally Posted by frodnonnag
Dancer has the option to give a defense down step or an evasion down step to each mob, depending on what's pulled. Now, in merit parties, sometimes you have to get one of the Bards to sing a Madrigal to compensate for that Lurker that just got pulled in order to keep chain. However, Dancer can replace that with Haste Samba and the appropriate Step. (Taking over March and either a Minuet or a Madrigal depending on the situation).
If Haste Samba and normal Haste spell don't stack and are the same effect, I'm going to be a little disappointed.
Mandau, Blau Dolch, X's Knife, P.Harpe, Harpe?
TBH ppl wouldnt sub NIN as much if they made Dual Wield Available to more than just nin. Mostly Ppl sub it cos utsu is a 100% effective against a physical hit or single tier nuke but if WAR had Dual Wield then NIN wouldnt automatically be used all the time. I only sub NIN on BLU mainly cos i like being able to use my other hand to attack with since BLU has very few options for shields (and nothing but SJ skill on em too).Originally Posted by Lucavi
people sub nin because defense/VIT are lol for melee, SE is too pussy to change it because its become standard in FFXI.
One way or another, Dancer will be readily accepted into merit parties, and looks to be a pretty fucking easy way to rack up merits, without wanting to kill yourself, IE. with bard.
My friend at the FF just told me they will be talking about AV at the special event tonight.

I know the 4th Stratagem for black magic would turn Gravity into Graviga, Bind into Bindga, Blind into Blindga etc
How about the white magic version? I'm assuming you can do Slowga, Paralyga, Silencega.... but would it also apply to buff spells?
If anyone at the Fanfest can confirm/deny if it works for buff spells it would be appreciated.
reading about these Dances I may have to lvl it to at least 37, although it will damage me mentally having to watch my elvaan male self do those dances.
