    Re: Job Adjustments

It would appear today is "Insult Xavier who has banning powers Day".

2-handers are getting a nerf(hopefully a subtle but potent one) and Rangers are going to be to able to increase their DoT with a new job ability. Previously, during ToAU, a large portion of the RNG nerf was removed. RNGs fall behind most jobs because they are too slow compared to the haste packing melee, but Velocity Shot might change that. That said, RNG are easily one of the best if not the best burst damage in the game. They suffer most in the ever present "burn" situations where burst damage isn't rewarded as much as DoT. And that's why SE is adding Velocity Shot. RNG will still cost quite a bit, but they do have the great advantage of being out of range from nasty AoEs, like Amnesia.

If you did things by that logic, you'd also have to make Ninjas consistently better than Paladins
No I wouldn't have to. You are making several faulty assumptions.

Where as rng also pays to be able to attack at a range, last time I checked my warriors axes dont hit kited mobs easily. I think this buff for rng is needed, but I dont think they need to be better than the other melees but at a bare min they should be on par. Rng can do things other melees cant, but they pay for the ability to do so, but since they pay for this form of damage it should be on par but not best in my opinion.

    Re: Job Adjustments

I don't even have RNG leveled, and wouldn't ever level it.
I an't gonna say some witty comment about ur intellect, how flawed ur logic is, or how stupidly ill based it is cause well... I'm not in the mood atm (go figure) but please, when making a comment about a job, please level it to at least some levels before making a huge assumption and add to the discussion.

Ah the age old RNG debate, yea they need fixin but where they're at isn't exactly terrible currently as most people paint it as. It's true RNGs got a major hit on damage when I leveled it, we had it coming... And pretty much ripped whatever RNG was into null existence. However RNGs have seen much improvements since then and slowly creeping up as at least tolerable and usable in an end game sense, hell my good friend is pretty much a top of the line RNG and can dish a lot of damage as one (no where near his equally leet EQed SAM but technical stuff no1 needs to know XD). This improvement seems very promising, if not quite an expensive alternative lol, to the whole RNG dilemma and I'm quite excited to see the results.

I think RNGs still rank as one of the best Spike Damage dealers in the game, EES, Barrage, Sidewinders/Slug Shot ect.

And the cost of RNG, especially now a days, is considerably cheaper than it was quite some time ago.

And RNG gear isn't exactly expensive btw lol, they make up costs in other methods that other melees do.

    Re: Job Adjustments

I forgot to add that in my last post but the above posters are correct as well. You cant expect to have the best dot and best spike damage because you pay a little extra, I cant think of any job thats best at both spike and dot over all the other jobs.

    White Mage

At the time of the new expansion - new spell called Repose - a sleep spell. Also effective with scholar sub. Also want to add more teleport spells.
I just realized this is probably referring to teleport spells for the past telepoints (Holla/Dem/Mea, maybe Vahzl). Although a Teleport-Olduum is welcome, then maybe one for Li'Telor or something.

because you HAVE to level a job to be familiar with it...

    that makes so much sense

    /sarcasm off

The reason i would never level it is because I have other DD jobs. I dont feel like leveling another one especially one that is as hard on the Bank as RNG.

The threat was over trolling and not disagreeing with me. You're free to disagree as much as you want, so long as its more substantial than "I don't owe any reasoning to you, fuck your family".
Perfect response -- I need nothing further. Thanks.

RNG will still cost quite a bit, but they do have the great advantage of being out of range from nasty AoEs, like Amnesia.
There are two problems with this:

The first is that rng will spend more money, due to the fact that they now have a way to increase their rate of fire. This will allow them to effectively scale their damage increases alongside the increases that haste provides front-line DD, but rng will be paying more post-WotG than they do now for this increase. This is further reinforced by the fact that the damage will increase at range, and the fact that this new ability depletes the speed (and presumably, the power) of melee attacks. KC rngs could mitigate their cost by essentially only firing for WS and barrage, but with that tactic thrown out the window, those rngs will either have to shun this new ability altogether, or shun their KCs and stand back with the rest of the rngs, full-time, shooting ammo.

The second issue is still the crux of the matter in many fights; the hate issue. Rng is the king of spike damage, and now they'll be a very strong contender in DoT if SE works this new ability like they should. Being out of amnesia range is hot, until the rng pulls even more hate from having faster and stronger shots, and now they're getting amnesia, and the other front-line DD are having to run after the mob, who is now after the rng more than ever. The old arguement of holding back until you WS as a rng is about to be thrown out, as rng will now be able to fire (hopefully) just as quickly as the other DD. Also keep in mind that as the rng pulls hate, the mob moves closer, effectively (temporarily) worsening the damage that the rng can do.

I am not against the update -- I can't wait for it, and I can't wait to see my rng friends back in the spotlight, but I really feel that SE needs to do something about rng hate, otherwise we're either going to see a return of arrowburn (just long-distance, bouncing hate between rngs in a circle), or we'll see yet another new stigma created that will give rng a hard time.

Not to derail all the ranger QQ, but two-handers really don't need a nerf. They're just now on-par with DW jobs. You want to nerf Sam? Ok, I get that, but leave 2H as it is. I don't want dex = acc to go away and turn great pieces like Ares and Askar bodies into pointless sidegrades again.

I think they might be nerfing how powerful 2-handers WSes are, that's the only way I can see them nerfing SAM. Or maybe just SAM WSes.

Not necessarily, I'm proof of that, however if u plan to make an off base assumption without any backing outside of he said that and she said this and without any REAL experience, may it be personal experience or based on observations, then your additions to said discussion becomes moot and creates more deluded assumptions of what really goes on.

I feel the same way about this. It seems like all jobs that use 2hnded weapons have their fate tied to SAM. I don't even know how you'd nerf SAM beyond weaker weaponskills either.

    Re: Job Adjustments

only way to get real experience of a job is to level it?

playing a level 75 Relic RNG friend's account doesn't count? Hell, even watching other jobs is experience.

there are other ways to experience a job than JUST leveling it. To act like someone necessarily has no idea how a job works and the mechanics behind it simply because they haven't leveled it to 75 is as baseless as it gets.

Name another 2-handed job that is JP-centered. Sam is the poster child for 2handers, just like nin is the poster child for non-2handed DDs. Most 1-handed jobs have had their fates tied around nin, via. dual-wield being all but a requirement for damage (hi2u off-hand stat bonuses!), outside of thf/war, but really, who lets a thf get away with subbing /war more than subbing /nin?

It's easy! Reduce the amount of store TP they have , and reduce the amount of TP meditate gives.

Teeheehee, lets just hope CoP devs ain't listening.

The second great weapon-tp nerf. Instead of getting 100 tp from meditate, SAMs will now get 10 tp.

Honestly I don't feel Sam WS are terribly overpowered either. I think higher damage WS on HNM are just a function of Sam's best WS being one-hit as opposed to stuff like Penta and Guillo. If DRG and DRK got a strong one-hit WS in WoTG, they'd be on par with Sam. Sam would still get the most WS over time... but isn't that what the job is designed to do in the first place?

DRG and DRK are both getting boosts, as are WAR... so a nerf in the 2-hand area doesn't leave those jobs incredibly weak.

Reread my post, anyways my MAIN point besides resisting my attempts to make a mockery of u, is that no RNGs don't really need an edge at all in damage currently. They just need slight fixes in a few areas, like DoT as some people mentioned here.

They're getting more pet commands and more spells, respectively, neither of which have ever been a big factor in either jobs DD.
