didn't the fan fest end like an hour ago tonight?
Damnit, you got my hopes up.
It's getting late-ish here on the west coast (9:30), I was wondering that, too.Originally Posted by Moosey
The annoucement was 2+ Avatars, no word what they will be.
As it was said in the thread....
Cait Sith and Fat Chocobo are the new Summons.
Really.
If it is really fat chocobo I am going to be PLD/SMN from now on...Originally Posted by LD
the latest news on this is that there will be new avatars (yes plural) but they are "top secret" so they couldn't tell us any details or hints on who/what they might be.
Really, really, REALLY wondering how they're going to fit this into the STRONGLY ESTABLISHED CANON that there are 5 Terrestrial and 8 Celestial avatars.
Unless they're adding Odin and Alexander as summonable avatars, which would would be -weird- but would make more sense storyline wise, but possibly wouldn't square with, y'know, it being a WotG-related update. I dunno.
i read that the announcement was 2 new avatars..but no names
better than nothing

i can see SE doing that >.>
Atomos?
*There are eight known celestial avatars from the Windurstian Vana'diel Stellar Map, however till now, only six of the basic element avatars appeared in the game. (Taken from wiki)alltho wiki also shows alex as light and odin as Dark which would make 8....Originally Posted by Teakwood
and then it shows the 5 terestial
They added Diabolos after CoP was completely finished. It's possible they could still add summonable versions of Alexander and Odin. Alexander would likely be in his golden castle form (as seen in cutscenes in Whitegate) and Odin would probably float around without Slepnir (the horse).Originally Posted by Teakwood
Then again, completely new avatars could be possible too. Remember the Vana'diel Tribune? The Celestial Avatars were created by Altana. It could fit into the storyline that somewhere along the line the goddess could create more avatars.
Brothers!
actually now that i think about it, when was pheonix killed? i never paid attention to the storyline? if pheonix was still alive during the crystal war i would think maybe he would be summonable
Phoenix gave her live to revive Selh'teus during the Meltdown. Reborn, Selh'teus became the new Phoenix.Originally Posted by arioch

I'd think they'd introduce familiar face avatars than new ones...
BUt I thought that wasnt THE Phoenix in the sword, but just given Tenzen or whatever her power. I thought after the power was used, it simply exhausted all the power phoenix has lent him.
Im only asking cause I dont remember all the details of the story anymore.
But even if it was, its Phoenix, and when they die they get reborn anyway..
If this turns out to be like odin/alex from ToAU where SE said they were adding in new avatars but never said they'd be summonable.... Why do they think anyone cares if they add avatars that you can't summon? It's like saying.... look!! new npcs!!
I hope when they mentioned avatars today, I hope they're talking about adding new summonable avatars (i.e. alex/odin) and not just adding new avatars into the storyline of WotG
