Price Fixing

Not sure if anyone has noticed this with random items on other servers but on Phoenix I decided to look into a little price fixing thats been occurring recently. Not sure if this is RMT trying desperately to get extra money before the Christmas season, or just some jerk on my server screwing with a few prices. Little data before I post a few of the AH logs from FFXIah.com

Melody Earring +1 160k 11/14/07, by 11/16/07 60k
Merman's Earring Price has been jumping from 80's to 150's...
Maneater 150k 11/14/07, by 11/16/07 400k
Sniper's Ring ~275k average 11/14/07, by 11/16/07 average ~130k

The list goes on but this is rather disturbing and annoying IMO -.-p

Before I left Titan I noticed the same thing with those same items and a few others, with random ajdlfkajsdlf type names and warned them via shout. Looks like it's a group looking to pull it off on all servers.

Report them to the special task force. I don't know how much weight my report had on it, but I gave a detailed report with as many names as I could find in the RMT group (about 15), as many items as I knew they were fixing, and an informative report on how they fix the price. Aka, buy/sell 10 items among themselves for a low price, buy several items from other players at the new low price, buy and sell 10 items among themselves for a high price, sell to other players for the new high price, repeat. About 1 week later they were gone. If it doesn't work, get your friends and linkshell(s) to report them to the STF.

There were a bunch of RMT doing this on many servers back in Sep/August until they got banned. Seems it's time to get them banned again.

Every week a new thread like this pops up. Its Gilsellers, eventually they get banned. There isnt much of an alternative at the moment.

SE is doing something about this, iirc there was a thread a month or so ago about a legit player getting banned for trying to bump up the price of cursed cap.

The best thing to do is to try to buy items when the price goes down, then when they raise the price, sell the items you bought by undercutting by over 100k. The market tumbles incredibly quick when they run it up so high; you are cutting significantly into their profit that way, and also making a quick buck.

Izzy at my last count I think I found 24 mules that sorolllllllllllll uses to fix Phoenix's economy, about 15-20 are price setting. That ass pisses me off more than anyone on the server but I try to ignore him; last time I tried to do something about it the entire FFXI community learned my name so I find it best to ignore him xD.
