That one was $200 with a $40 dollar mail in rebate so about $160 for one of the top AGP cards isn't so bad.

    Re: AGP Card Help

I would like to clarify that I didn't suggest upgrading those components because of the lack of decent video cards, I suggested you upgrade the rest because you are investing in a end of life platform essentially instead of putting that same money towards a pci-e based system.

    Re: AGP Card Help

Ok I put the power supply in and then the card and powered it up. The monitor wouldn't respond.. this really pissed me off. I put in my old back up card and it turned on....

I took the card to my buddy's thinking it must be defective let me try it on his PC.. and sure enough it worked. I don't know what the hell I am doing wrong. I ordered a 500W power supply while this card is listed to demand 450W. Though the power supply was cheap my friends was only 410W's... so I don't get how this one could fail. I meet all other requirements for this card and it's just fucking up my head right now thinking what the hell I could be doing wrong.

    Re: AGP Card Help

    double check your mobo documentation.
MAKE CERTAIN YOUR AGP SLOT SUPPORTS THE LOWER VOLTAGE (.9V)
If it does not... you are officially boned.

    Re: AGP Card Help

My motherboard manual doesn't even include what voltage the AGP slot is :/ but I am positive it would support it.. I just got it last year I know companies aren't squeezing out AGP based motherboards like mad anymore either.

    Re: AGP Card Help

Doesn't help considering the OP wanted a AGP based video card, the 3870 is pretty decent though and I can't wait for the R700 based cards to come out and put on a strong showing.
