Doesn't a full cycle of the dishwasher use an INTENSE amount of water to run? I don't even use my dishwasher due to conserving water by washing everything by hand...

now the key to this is how someone hand washes dishes, there are ways to hand wash dishes that would be more efficient but it is a little more difficult to do and maintain clean dishwater throughout the process. Also key is the use of a Modern(one made within 10 years I think) that is made for water conservation. Older dishwashers used about 14 gallons(which is still less than the estimate of normal improper handwashing) new one uses about 4 gallons per load.
Thing is dishwashing makes up about 1% of a households water usage so it should be at the bottom of a list when making changes to a home for water conservation. bathroom and laundry use the most.
