    Re: Area discussion

Kinda suprised that they're keeping exactly the same maps for the old areas. I would have expected the differences to be a bit more siginifcant in areas like Davoi which have changed significantly since the war.

Cavernous Maws been added to the game yet(I know they can't be used yet..)? I am going to go take a look around west saruta, but thought I would post this first. If so what positions? Supposedly in North gusta, east ron and and west saruta.

Everything you wanted to know about Southern San'Doria (Past)

The AH is gone. In its place is the Campaign Counter. The guy who also accepts the red envelope for sandy allegiance is there. It was green, not sure if a key or regular item, no one has found in the dats yet.

NPC's talking about sand worms swallowing battalions.
NPC's talking about the bar being closed because the owner went missing @ the start of the war.
NPC's talking about cait sith appearing on the battle field and moving with 'amazing speed and grace'. (Had they said OMG DID YOU SEE THAT? I would still be laughing)
NPC's wondering why a civilian was out when you talked to them.

All houses are locked, all shops are closed, there is a gate which you have to talk to a guard to get let outside.
MH looks like is under construction (I got turned around and zoned in on accident and we weren't supposed to, no mog in it)

I managed to get as far as the auction house before they zoned us to E. Sara[tab](Past). This zone looks mostly the same with the hill, but all the tree's are much more alive and there are lvl 58-64 mobs (DC/EP/T to a 60) running around. I didn't see any of the other special mobs people mentioned, and there are craters everywhere.

Saw a Cavernous Maw in Sauromugue Champaign, too, around J-10 I think up on the ledge kinda where Roc pops.

    Re: Area discussion

DATs show Cavernous maws in all the outdoor areas by the looks of it. West Saruta, East Ron, North Gusta, Passhow, Meriphtaud, Jugner, Sauramogue, Battalia, and Rolanberry.

Beastmen Forts (Castle Oz, Beadeux, Davoi/La Vaule) are there but will not be accessible yet - there are no mobs in the zone, just placeholder type NPCs. Same goes for BCD/Xarc/Throne Room

There are 3 other new areas that appear to be in the present (Ruhotz Silvermines, Ghoyu's Reverie, Everbloom Hollow, no [S] next to them so I'm guessing present times?) which each contain 18x (Beastman) Stormer, 5x (Beastman) Carrier, 14x (Beastman) Guard (Beastman being Quadav, Yagudo, or Orc depending on the zone). Then 3x (Royal/Federation/Republican) Infantry, 3x (Royal/Federation/Republican) Garrison. Also 1 each of Trained Bat, Trained Crab, Trained Scorpion, and one each of Dawn Aureola, Twilight Aureola, Lacuna Whorl. Not sure if these zones are likely to be active yet, there are a lot of placeholder NPCs in them too.

There's also Eldieme Necropolis, Crawlers Nest, and Garlaige Citadel, which each have similar mobs to the normal versions (though higher tier ones) and a fair amount of NPCs.

Each zone has a lot of repeated NPCs/Mobs which I'd assume to be for Campaign. Quite a few familiar names popping up (Maat, Adjido-Marujido, Oggbi, and quite a few present day NMs). There's also that Mithra NPC that was shown in a random SS with a Qiqirn hat (Choh Moui) followed by a bunch of Chigoes. And there's also a siSandworm in most of the outdoor zones.

    Re: Area discussion

I'm trying to compile a listing of the Cavernous Maws in a seperate thread for now, since I kind of read this as "New Zones" haha >_>

Also, the NPCs in the towns say something different, the Mithra in Windurst Woods, and the Elvaan by the Chocobo Stables talk about Cavernous Maws now.

Gigas come from out of the Middle Land map. EDIT2: But it's entirely possible that Gigas currently live[d] there (like you said).
I can confirm the existence of Giants here, they came storming at us near the end of the demo at the Fan Fest. Here's a video I got of it, was talking to ringthree at the time and put my headphones on to see if anything interesting was being said, only to hear that we were being kicked out in thirty seconds so I got some last minute footage. :P Also have some videos of South Sandy and Sarutabaruta if anyone's interested, nothing too exciting though.

I'm guessing they're the "Atomos" areas. I'm also going to take a wild guess and say that they relate to the 4 main enemy beastmen (Orcs/Quads/Yags/Demons) and possibly the 4 magicite stones from the original missions (there was a 4th in the Throne Room, no?)

    Re: Area discussion

They said WHM would be getting new port spells in one of the future updates, and while that could be limited to the Leyline in wajoam, it did seem like they were saying they'd add more than one...The crags exist in the past, we all know that, but the zones in which they currently reside do not.

Is it possible the new areas, Grauberg, the fort, etc, overlap with the old crag areas to an extent, or will SE just add new teleporting locations?

Good question. It could certainly be possible with the way the map is laid out, although there are none of the Kolshushu or Zulkheim Regions. Fort Karugo-Narugo is right on the border of the Kolshushu region, and Grauberg looks just over the border to Zulkheim. Nothing at the Sandy side though.

Can't see anything that would appear to be a crag or crystal in the NPC lists looking at them though, but it's a possibility.

As for new bones party areas - I hope so :D (Although it's hard to say at the moment how well the new areas will work for exp without sanction bonus. Time will tell)

Another random point - Pixies/Faeries have been added to the mob/NPC list in most of the outdoor Quon and Mindartia zones. Even ones that don't have past counterparts - Valkurm, Konschat, West Ron etc. Not in Northlands or Beastman lairs though, though that could be added at a later point when those areas are unlocked.

There's also a distinct LACK of NMs in the past zones. I really can't see anything that stands out. Well, in every zone there's the various Beastmen generals (most seem to be the same as NMs that appear in present day zones, though none of the notable NM drop ones, mostly seem to be ones you see on missions). Each general has it's own batch of troops that it commands. The same applies to allied forces and beastmen in fact, and they're the same across each zone in that region.

But yeah, other than the Beastmen which come up in every zone, I haven't spotted anything that looks like an NM. I guess SE think that money drop NMs just encourage too much RMT or something... I -guess- their policy is working, but it's kinda annoying to see no NMs to be able to farm.

Oh, the one notable thing that looks like an NM - or HNM even - is Sandworm. Oddly it pops up in most of the outdoor zones. However, there's only one entry for it in each zone, right at the bottom of the mob list. There's also a title that looks like a Sandworm NM title (Sandworm Wrangler) and someone else also mentioned some NPC/quest text that talks about it devouring armies. I'm thinking that it could be an NM that moves between zones - Sandworms in other FFs have been known to bury underground and move around, it sounds possible/likely to me.

Just digged some maps from WoTG dats, I'm posting just new areas, there are more, but too fragmented (like Pso'Xja), plus the old areas that retained the same map.

Your moaning about lack of NM's etc , but do you have WoTg Installed i'm presuming that there will be a lot of content on the disc and not all the expansion in a 100 meg download.

Besides Cerberus, there weren't many (any?) NMs in ToAU when it first came out either. They'll go back and add them later.
