Dunno, but even with the highest dark resist, one will always slip once in a while. I'm not certain eating a 4k dmg or 2k dmg once every 20 fight would worth it.

if you did it on whm w/ rr3, however, you could easily eat that hit, die, reraise, and only be out a single fight's worth of xp. few minutes downtime and you're back in the game. i'm not saying it's a GOOD idea (in fact i'm fairly confident that intentionally eating a very big boom is a BAD idea) i'm just saying it might be fun to try. ^^

I don't see it working at all. You would die of the melee damage alone. Multiple explosions, even a nerfed ones, are just nails on the coffin.

They could be good from an absurdly low level if that job is capable of running and nuking without being caught. Just cast a few TP-generating spells (dia, a nuke, whatever) and keep running until it targets itself and explodes while you're out of range.

I don't think any mobs will start to cast a self-destruct move out of range. It's possible you could run out of range during the cast, but I wouldn't count on that...

    Re: Monster discussion

I soloed in 1/2 my lvl for BST 69>70 today on the Vunkerl Inlet one..

BST/RDM (nukes + cures.. and i'd figure dia and bio work for light and darkday but didnt get to test it)

worked extremely well. Threw Robber Crabs and Fierce Smilodons on them, then cast a spell. Smilodons are better (higher lvl and tend to resist boom sometimes so u can just attack another one and repeat)

It should be noted that you do not need to feed it TP after casting the appropriate nuke. Doing the nuke sets the next TP move to Nocturnal Combustion and give it enough TP to do it (probably 100%). Sometimes it goes straight away, sometimes it waits awhile, cos thats how mob TP moves works >25%.

But you have to have urself or pet within range for the Djinn to blow up.. so somehow a pet has to be involved. Once you get hit, u're as good as dead (but u can wait a few minutes the Sprite will come raise :D)

At 70, exp slows down alot since you start getting EM Djinns, which isnt so good for exp rate.. but at 69, managed to gain 9k in 1 hour, so thats pretty good shit.

There are Ignis Djinn inside Eldieme?

Your plan is flawless until you realize RR3 is lv 75, that bomb melees at least 1-2 hits every time, and that 5min downtime hurt xp a lot ;x There is no bar-dark either, so it's unlikely you will get close to the cap.

yeah. the more i think about it, the more it seems like it's a bad idea any way you cut it. still was a fun thought experiment though. ^^

    Not gonna work.

BST/BLM is fine, probably, but you wont get access to any light based spells and emergency cures. I've yet to test if Dia works but will do that soon.

Jug Pet : 5 min. You're gonna kill MUCH FASTER than 5 minutes, and usually your jug pet gets KO-ed by the Nocturnal Combustion too so you can't reuse it much.
To give you a rough idea of how fast you can be killing on these things: soloed 9k/hr, regular chain #5, sometimes chain #7.

Also, they don't all just detonate at once. Casting a spell on them 'sets' them so that they will definitely explode next TP move. It doesn't mean immediately, and they don't sync either. If 1 booms earlier, you'd be left with no pet and a bunch of other djinn chasing you. You also need to keep as much distance as you can. If you're within Snarl range, you're already too close.

but really, SMN is much better off with these mobs, mainly because they can get up a new pet at will (instead of looking for a charmie). They also have the full elemental range from the main job itself, which is convenient..

someone made a vid. watch it.

they seem to blow up randomly after one nuke of the days element, and immediately after 2 nukes. for the past 20 or so i've done, they've all blown up within a few seconds of the second nuke

Quick question and I guess it goes in this thread... Does anyone have any solid information on how to pop Poroggo Gents in West Saru (S)?

Information on "Blue Magic Hunting Grounds" suggests nothng more than a lottery off toads but after 3 hours of killing im begining to wonder.

Elemental weapon skills and elemental add effects work.

    Edit: And yes Dia works.

i've tested bio and dia too.. and both work on their respective days..

attacking with a 2nd elemental spell seems to trigger it to TPmove faster..

80% of the time, a 2nd spell instantly triggers the boom

You also need to have hate on it in some way (I think even a party member having hate works) before it'll trigger a blow up, so if you're pulling with the first spell it won't blow up.

Killing them could be making them take longer to respawn really. They may be like roaches and need to evolve after being up for so long...

I was out with Tib and having similar frustrations. After he logged off I went to the north tower, /followed a frog and went afk with my sound up. I came back when I heard the familiar sound of blaze spikes being cast. Gent was up, and I could've sworn there was a second one, but maybe I was wrong. Anyways I pulled it and accidentally killed it before it used the move. Was low EP, didn't aggro.

Point is, it just popped, and after I killed it I circled the tower and found all 5 normal frogs and no second gent. I don't know how the wamouras work; does a roach despawn when they spawn? If so then maybe the gent is just a timed spawn instead of morphing(so to speak) from a normal frog. All I can say for certain is that it is not a lotto off the normal toads.
