    Re: Campaign discussion

The sword is on. There's 2 icons: one that replaces your linkpearl, and one that sits up top in your buff/debuff area. The one that dissipates after a fight is over is the one on your head, but notice that the other one does not until you get evaluated.

What that means is that you are still participating in Campaign, but that the battle is over. This means that your "time spent in campaign" is still being accumulated, which means that its constantly raising your cap. Thus, you can zerg for the first 3 minutes of a fight, build up 1.5kxp, and just sit and wait until your cap catches up to it so you can actually collect the reward.

Its part of the reason why lots of people were initially saying they were getting tons of xp after the update while dead -- its because they were spending more time in the zone with their tag on after the fight, waiting to get raised, and thus, their cap was higher than if they simply ran off to the next fight as soon as this one ended.

Let me spell it out for you: instead of rushing to warp to the next zone like a sheep, wait around with your tags still active after a match has finished -- say, 10 minutes or so. You'll turn that 300 xp into 1.5k. The only downside to this is that if you wait too long, and a new match starts, your points are erased.

Its a risk, but then again, what in life isn't?
    lol he's so angry
This might be a stupid question, but I thought you could only gain exp/notes when you had the Campaign sword icon on?
Yeah, but the amount of exp/notes you get in a match is capped off when you return your tags to the NPC who gave them to you.

So say you'd done 2000 exp/1000 notes worth of damage but the match was pretty short, it might get capped off at 800/800. But if you sit on your thumb waiting for the ridiculous timer aspect to allow you to claim the exp you earned, you could in theory get it all. Much more likely scenario: while you're waiting for your tag to "mature", the beastmen attack again and you get fuck-all for your effort.

I can see defensive NPC's possibly spawning late due to low reconnaissance levels (they didn't see the attack coming and had to scramble) but having the army not show up for an offensive battle? It doesn't seem to be working correctly.

I do like the ability to talk to the "boss" NPC's for the city forces when no battle is happening though - most of them are assholes!
I expect an update soon, in any case, I had similar experience as this.

After last maintainence, after they turned a perfectly great campaign into something broken, my 1st plan was to jump around to random zone until I get to a campaign(since /cmap isn't all that up-to-date), I jumped to Fort Karugo-Narugo[S], saw a bunch of campaign NPCs walking around the allied tag NPC, figured a campaign is about to happen there, parked my character next to the NPC, and played on my PSP while waiting for the campaign music to come. After about an hour of my "semi-AFK"(no campaign happend all that time, by the way), I looked up, and saw another group of campaign NPCs popped, shortly after that, the 1st group of campaign NPC(the group that had me all excited about the possibility of an upcoming campaign) literally got bored of waiting, and warped. I stood there, speechless, talked to the allied tag NPC, and had myself warped back to my home nation for plan B: camp the laggy /cmap next to the teleport NPC. Oh, and the Fort Karugo-Narugo campaign didn't happen about 2h after my warp.

Other than this, not much to contribute to this thread apart from(not too important, I guess): I got 1k EXP/800 AN from one single campaign by doing about 3 sleepga II, 2 thundaga III, and lots of RR-ing, and I am bronze ribbon(lowest rank). Though I am guessing everyone already figured out that the campaign cap for lowest rank is above 1k EXP?

Doubtful. The highest reported has been around 3k, but since it wasn't 3k exactly (2995 I think) and they got more notes than exp (which has happened to me every time I've been capped) it might just be that they were still getting fucked by the timer. Using the old caps, brass had a 100 exp bonus versus bronze.

    Re: Campaign discussion

I started timing this earlier, and it seems that the time-based cap is either equal to the total number of seconds with active tags, or to the total number of seconds +20. For instance trading them in after just over 10 min (600 seconds) capped me at 620. Trading them in a little over 17 min and 10 seconds (1030 seconds) capped me at 1050. Also this was decidedly the time-based cap and not simply the amount earned since in both cases the AN reward was sufficiently higher than half the exp reward.

Edit: As for how to actually handle the time-based cap, on a friend's recommendation I just stay at the zone until the next zone pops and then turn them in and head off. Even if it means missing out on 200ish exp or something by doing it early, although you'd probably make as much with the extra time in the next battle, and it's more fun that way. Usually the fights where you get 1k or more were already long enough to where it's only a 5min wait or so to cap above it, and /cmap updates so slow it almost works out perfectly.

On Kujata, Windurst seems poised to take Sauromugue Champaign from the beastmen at the next tally. But I keep checking, and I never see a campaign battle happen there. I've AFK'd in the zone with the music on for hours while reading a book, check /cmap regularly...nothing. I've seen battles happen in every other zone on /cmap or in person. The only thing I saw happen was once 3 archers warped in, plinked away at the fort for a while, and left. So...how did it get to be that the beastman bar is around 80% and Windurst's bar is full?

    Re: Campaign discussion

I still don't understand what is going on with the quadav warping out so fast in pashhow. Has anyone else experienced this? We just had a sizable force show up (30-40 ppl) and i ran around the tower first to see if there were any npcs already there getting owned, which there weren't. So i pulled a quad from the group and we start killing it. Then they all warped out when it had got to like 95%. WTF?!

Oh, and of course this capped the enemy fortifications there again. We didn't even get a chance to kill any.

SE needs to do lots and lots of patching. This was an excellent start, and no one should expect it to be perfect right off the back, but they have a lot of work to do.

Tried campaign on pup. They are screwed yet again by SE. If i ever hit the mob, it was for very low dmg. But the worst part is, if u have ur automaton out when u get tags it deactivates -_-

I think there needs to be a minimum amount of activity to keep an offensive campaign in action. Whenever there are just PCs on the field, somebody pulls a turtle off the defending line and 30-40 people beat on the one mob for five minutes before the beastmen just warp. But when Maximillian and the 1st Legion show up we can have it out for over twenty minutes before the Quadav actually flee for once.

One problem that keeps us beating on a single mob for so long is that the NPCs are too retarded to position themselves at the front of the Quadav to avoid Diamondshell. Some PCs are equally retarded and don't bother to rotate the Quadav 50 degrees to the right so that ol' Max with his 70% haste, dual-wield, 100+ damage per swing, and 99% Double Attack rate doesn't spend the battle hitting for 0s.

    Re: Campaign discussion

Wow, I had a dream they Fixed Campaign.

When you talked to the C.A. or Nation Guards, they had the usual Tag/Performance/Info options, and a new one.

    Active Sieges

Selecting that brought up a list with the oldest active fights at the top, and fresh ones at the bottom, and then gave the option to teleport to them, which seemed like it included the normal cost home>out again in AN, and it was so good I think I cried in my sleep.

You know what I'd really like to hear? Why Maxx thinks time caps on tags are a good idea. I shouldn't get all the EXP I earned because I earned it too fast? Really though, playing chicken with the invading hordes is probably my favorite part of campaign now. Do I turn them in now, or do I risk it for some more exp? What if I turn it in now, get capped, and they don't attack for 20 minutes? It's like I hit the bad design jackpot.

    Re: Campaign discussion

I just participated in my first campaign, it was literally less than five minutes. Not sure what to think, I know some of them will go on for longer but that was still really lame. Luckily I hadn't warped out to catch it, just happened to run across it right before it began, so it didn't feel like a waste of time or effort, just kinda silly that we fought two orcs and it was over. If they're going to be like that, they need to happen a lot more often.

They used to be far more frequent, with the added bonus of lasting a long time. Apparently that was too good for us so SE made it what it is today.

to lazy to read through the 10+ pages i hadn't read already but.. the easiest fix (quadav being broken aside) assuming that sandy is just getting most area due to sheer numbers is base the influence of a nation on what % of the players are participating.. something like that would be far better for bastok

Oh, now the griping about the Campaign update makes a lot more sense, thanks. Hopefully they'll realize their mistake and re-adjust it.

Don't think this has been posted, but Campaign Map has just been updated for weekly tally today, instead of Monday like last time. Sucks for us because one more day and windy would have gotten Meriphataud, and thus the continent.

edit: Also got evaluated: Allied Ribbon of Bravery (III)
