Saruta was under massive attack at server up >.> 3 sets of Yags, we killed some and they slowly warped away and then Shadowhand came, killed him and his Eles and finally NPCs showed to help on him. Ended up with 1855 Exp and 1000 AN for my 66NIN, by far the most Exp/AN I have ever gotten and a ton of fun, lol.

    Re: Campaign discussion

What conditions must be met for a beastmen owned area to become bastok/windy/nation owned? Is this done JP midnight sunday, like conquest zones, or the moment the last fortification goes down?

Beastmen owned Grauberg on Unicorn down to 1 fortication. The last fortification simply isn't going down.

Also, i notice all beastmen owned areas have 150/150 resources, where nation owned resources vary. Any way/reason to deplete the beastmen resources?

(checked wikia and BG wiki, this is not specified).

It seems tied with conquest tally now, the first tally was on a "random" midnight JP on monday, probably to compensate for the mid-week release, but wouldn't make sense anymore now.

I'm not sure what's up with the Fortification system honestly. Wednesday after the update, I sat my ass in Gusta trying to win it back for Bastok. Basically, we "control" the region, but the Beastmen currently own it. The Fortifications were around 30 when I got there, and we beat on them every chance we got. The lowest we got it to was 15, I think, but after a while, they just rose up between Campaigns. I logged on last night, and it was back up to around 30 again.

It also seems that the Fortifications will only take so much damage before Campaign will just end - the mobs fled on us before we killed them all or before an hour passed. Seems fair to me, or else people would just kite the mobs and whittle away the Fortifications, but with the regen between Campaigns, it seems to prevent any real progress.

    Re: Campaign discussion

Let me try to clarify a few things for those still scratching their heads about what it takes to "win" a zone:

    1) Fortification level is NOT the determining factor. Fortification strength controls the level of resource drop and morale drop (also dependent on killing campaign beastmen outside of campaign, and gaining influence in the area). These are the two big scales that the orcs are always empty in when you check over their icon.

    2) Influence level IS the determining factor. Each time you "win" a zone, your influence level increases by a small amount for that area. Each time you "lose" a zone, your influence level decreases by a small amount. It also seems that major "wins" result in the decreasing of the enemy influence, while normal or close "wins" results in only an increase on your part. The beastmen act the same way, with massive slaughters on their part result in both a loss of your influence and a gain of theirs.

2a) "Winning" through attacking means that you have dealt enough significant damage to the fort to stop the battle music and warp ALL NPCs (both enemy and allied) out of the zone. This is not to be confused with either beating the beastmen so badly that they run away, as other reinforcements can easily show up and continue the fight, nor is this to be confused with your current NPCs warping, but the fight continuing. I've personally seen up to 5 different sets of bastokan NPCs arrive in a single assault fight, each doing their own particular thing, then leaving it up to the PCs to finish whacking the fort.

2b) "Winning" through defending means that you've destroyed or repelled all enemy forces to the point where the fight is over. This may be one wave, all the way up to (highest I've seen is) five waves. NPCs may either start at the zone, or can show up at any point during the fight to lend a helping hand. Generally, when NPCs show up for defense, they'll stay to the end, but it's not 100% -- sometimes they will leave to either attack or defend in another zone, but NPCs will never stay in town if "their" specialized zone is under attack or being attacked. For example, the lovely Hume dancer and her squad of powerpuff girls will never sit by idly if anything is going on at Pashhow, but may not come to help if pashhow is clear, but grauberg is under attack.

2c) A good rule of thumb was the "when the music stops, the fight is over", but you don't even have to apply that anymore, since your tags are turned in the second the fight is over.

    3) The key determining factor of who claims what zone is influence. The faction with the highest influence at the end of the tally will take the zone, regardless of fortification or resource level -- those two are not the governing factors, they merely affect the number, frequency, and strength of the reinforcements and standard forces at said zone. Fortunately, there is a certain level of unpredictability that goes into campaign, being as how its war. Even with 0 morale and 0 resources, the enemy may call for many legions of reinforcements to help defend an area, which makes this especially fun.

In short: Win, and keep winning until the end of the conquest tally. If your influence is higher than the beastmen influence, you win the zone. Simple as that.

    Re: Campaign discussion

I guess the thing that was confusing me is the fact that it says Bastok controls one region, and I was pretty sure the home town didn't count (not in the position to really verify at the moment). I was under the impression that the force present in a zone could change (Allied Forces could be wiped out over time and Beastmen take over), but the Campaign map still considered that region as Allied controlled until the tally despite that Beastmen control. Obviously the actual tallies still work like the Conquest system, just was under the impression that presence could change.

So wow, Bastok blows even more than I thought. I find it hard to believe we did that poorly - even when Campaign turned into a piece of crap, people were still out there in force.

And yeah, the wording on when a Campaign ends in the last update notes were a little weird, but it was pretty obvious it was based on a set amount of damage after participating in a few.

You description seems to be correct, though.

Does anyone know where i can find the list of all the possible campaign medal levels? I saw it on here at some points and tried looking for it with search, but had no luck finding it.

Yeah, they have so much HP that it's health bars are split up into (what seems like) one HP bar per 1 fortification unit out of 150. And for some reason it doesn't go to 0 before starting a new HP bar, it goes to 50% and then begins the next 1 unit of fortification. While campaign is not active in a zone the forts seem to regen HP at 10 units per tick (a tick being a substantial amount of time, 30 mins to an hour i think). At least it was 10 per before this update, I'm not sure if it's changed.

    Re: Campaign discussion

Not sure if anyone noticed because a lot of people like to exit a zone after the battle ends. But those periods of time between Campaigns where a beastman zone's fortifications are "regening" actually happens because mobs will pop to do the repairs.

During this time the fortification is attackable and the mobs will leave you alone, but attacking the fort solo can only do so much. You can also attack the mobs so that they can't bother with repairs, but you will be rewarded no xp of course and lose xp if you die so I guess maybe some people do know and it's just not worth their time.

Just thought I'd point that out in case noone knew and was interested.

For Garlaige, it's at H/I-7/8 on the 2nd map; it's the "unpaved" room just to the west of Duchille (who won't be there during Campaign battle):

Unfortunately, it takes forever to get there, during which time the beastmen merrily beat down the fortification (assuming there isn't an army of NPCs to blow them up, which there wasn't today).

    Re: Campaign discussion

The dungeons have odd forts. CN's is actually the huge wine distiller in the main room, and there are 3 other fort targets one at each door in a tunnel. Necropolis' fort is in the 2nd large room, and one target is actually on a candle stand type object. Not sure about Garliage.

Garlaige's are the small wooden lean-to type structures down at the unpaved section mentioned.

    Re: Campaign discussion

Fortification strength controls the level of resource drop and morale drop
(did you mean prosperity for resources?)

Beastmen controlled areas on Unicorn all have 150 Resources with Fortifications as low 1 to as high as 135; there seems to be niether correlation or causation.

Nation controlled areas all have 150 Fortifications, but tend to have little to no Resources.

    Good info otherwise, thanks.

and next question, what do Morale and Prosperity mean and *do.*

    Re: Campaign discussion

According to SE, Morale affects the NPC's bravery and power while Prosperity affects national Reasources and Development. High morale means people will give it their all and stick it out til the end and high prosperity probably means more NPCs, better equipment, and stronger fortifications.

What I mean is, I'm obviously in range of it because the PLD next to me is one-shotted by it and it does absolutely no damage to me, nothing in the logs whatsoever, and we're the only two people fighting the NM with no one around us
